The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Trust is seeking a

Director of Marketing

& Communications

to join our team headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago. The AVMA Trust provides professional liability insurance, life & disability coverage, financial services, as well as other important benefits to the 105,000+ members of the AVMA. Structured to work for its members, AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership & for the veterinary profession. AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for our members & advancing the science & practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal & human health.

Partnering with the CEO & the AVMA Marketing & Communications team & the Broker partners, the

Director of

Marketing & Communications

is responsible for developing & executing the marketing strategy, a results-based marketing plan in support of key Trust marketing & communication initiatives focused on promoting offerings available through the AVMA Trust to AVMA members, their employees & family members. The Director of Marketing & Communication will also facilitate the unified message for all Trust offerings, while managing the messaging for all Trust resources, marketing campaigns, website content, direct mail, social media & convention messaging.

The goal of the

Marketing & Communications

is to align the Trust brand with the greater AVMA, coordinate a unified message across the offerings & improve the message, effectiveness & efficiency of the overall marketing & communication efforts to help support deeper penetration & growth.The

Director of Marketing

& Communications

will also partner with the Member Experience Officer & other key team members to assess & implement improved processes, marketing & communication.The role may include approximately 20% travel.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops & manages the creation, management & execution of an integrated marketing strategy & budgets for AVMA Trust communication & marketing campaigns, events & initiatives.Works with the broker, Trust & AVMA staff to identify marketing goals; develops & manages marketing plans to achieve those goals; recommends tactics & audiences for each; collaborates with internal & external partners to ensure Trust objectives/ goals & related deliverables are on target, message, & budget.Manages all facets of marketing campaigns, including direct mail, email, advertising, & other promotional materials/vehicles targeted to AVMA members & the profession, including copy writing, proof reading, vendor management (printer/mail services), & overall project management.Monitors effectiveness of marketing initiatives, & provides reports to Trust CEO & team, Marketing & relevant program partners with detailed analytics & response rates.Oversees all aspects of the Trust activities related to convention, tradeshows & state & local VMA engagement activities. Coordinates with other staff to ensure that booth space is reserved & works with contractors. Coordinates staffing & pre-show marketing efforts, & collaborates with partners to ensure booth content, collateral & presence best represent the Trust & align with AVMA Family.Responsible for the marketing messaging, coordinating & aligning performance management across all partners.Keeps abreast of developments in the veterinary profession, association marketing & management, & related public perceptions & concerns.Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

5-7 years of professional marketing, communications, advertising or public relations experience, with not-for-profit experience a plusSkilled & experienced at effectively managing projects in a creative environmentStrong writing skillsCreative, with demonstrated ability bring creative ideas to fruition through writing & project developmentExcellent interpersonal skillsMotivated self-starter, able to work well both independently & as a team memberExperienced in development & execution of direct marketing, advertising or branding campaignsStrong orientation toward service to othersAble to handle multiple priorities simultaneouslyStrong collaborative skills mustMust be able to travel on behalf of the association as requiredMust be able to work outside of normal business hours as required

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
