The candidate will have the ability to inspire and guide both clients and internal teams, ensuring the delivery of exceptional design across various platforms and channels.This is a pivotal role within Waracle. The role will be close to client activity, bids, estimates and pitches, in some cases seeing them from the first conversation through into development. The Head of Design is also responsible for leading our design community with a strong focus on quality, people development, continuous improvement, technical & delivery best practices, commercial and encouraging innovation and teamwork across the whole company while having a keen eye on upcoming market requirements.This role is open to candidates based from our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices.Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with sales and delivery leads to craft solutions, estimates, proposals and client pitches that not only meet client needs but resonate on a deeper level, truly understanding their challenges, concerns and aspirations and helping Waracle win in both existing and new clients.Communicate complex design concepts to stakeholders ensuring clarity and fostering a sense of partnership.Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) pertinent to projects and financial performance, consistently measuring and enhancing effectiveness.Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders to align design solutions with client objectives.Set standards for cross-functional collaboration and ensure high-quality design output by providing guidance, feedback, and direction on design deliverables.Inspire and define both the vision and strategies for realising business, product, service, and experience design.Be a highly motivated and positive leader for the team and serve as the face of Waracle design capabilities at conferences and industry events.Plan, measure, and interpret complex research to identify opportunities, validate solutions, and measure execution effectiveness.Requirements
Extensive experience in design leadership roles within digital consultancies or similar environments.Demonstrated commercial ability to work with sales and delivery teams to craft bespoke solutions for existing and prospective clients.Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful projects across different platforms and industries.Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and developing design teams, with strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.Strong ability to present to and engage with senior stakeholders, making complex ideas accessible and engaging.Deep understanding of how design and software practices and processes come together.Expertise in crafting user experiences and interfaces that meet high standards of accessibility, usability, and discoverability.Recruitment process
