The DRMI is a component of the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU). This is an excepted appointment for an initial three years, which may be renewed every one, two, or three years, indefinitely.DSCA's mission is to advance U.S. national security and foreign policy interests by building the capacity of foreign partners in order to encourage and enable allies and partners to respond to shared challenges.DSCU is the DoD’s center of intellectual life for Security Cooperation (SC). DSCU delivers the education, training, research, and analysis to the U.S. Security Cooperation Workforce and the institutional capacity building to our allies and partners to meet the current and future global security cooperation missions.The DRMI provides integrated executive education programs in resources management and analytical decision making for military officers of all services and civilian defense officials from the United States and 170 partner nations. The DRMI's multi-disciplinary faculty conduct graduate-level executive education courses in Monterey and tailored courses and seminars at other locations in the U.S. and abroad upon Request and in line with U.S. security cooperation missions. The DRMI directly supports the Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s (DSCA) mission of advancing US national security and foreign policy.The DRMI seeks applications for faculty positions in decision analysis, operations research, information sciences or a related field. The ability to teach multicriteria decision making and / or risk and basic data analysis is highly desirable. DRMI faculty are active teachers and scholars, and successful candidates will demonstrate valuable teaching experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a Ph.D. We expect evidence of scholarly research, and candidates should demonstrate a willingness to pursue research relevant to the DoD. Preferred but not required is work experience related to the DoD or other government agencies. Also preferred but not required: fluency in a foreign language, particularly Arabic, an Asian language (e.g., Chinese – Mandarin), Russian, or other language of strategic importance to the DoD.DRMI faculty must teach in an integrated, team-teaching environment in resources management executive education short courses. DRMI faculty must be willing to travel both internationally and domestically. The DRMI does not follow a standard academic calendar and candidates must live in the Monterey, CA, area and be available to teach year-round.QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must support all of the following requirements to be considered for the position. Please ensure transcripts reflecting a conferred terminal/doctorate degree are also provided with your application:An earned-terminal degree/doctorate from a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher education (or international equivalent) in an appropriate discipline such as international relations, economics, foreign affairs, history, or a related field that supports DSCU’s programming, research, and analysis needs.Demonstrated evidence of leadership or management appointment in public, private, or academic sectors.Contributions to scholarship through publications in peer reviewed journals/presses.Five or more years’ experience in functional areas unique to security cooperation/institutional capacity building that align with OSD-Policy priorities. Experience in one or more of the following: instructing; designing and preparing curricula; designing and developing learning support systems; reviewing and assessing curriculum and program design; and providing academic advice and/or research, writing, publishing, and reviewing the work of others.Progressive experience in teaching various subjects at the university level, as well as developing course curricula.Progressive experience in carrying out original research where findings are published in peer-review fora.Prefer experience in the delivery of education as related to defense, security sectors, foreign policy, diplomacy, and modern history.Have advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: resources management, economics, operations research, decision analysis, financial management, or budgeting.Prior experience working in or with the Department of Defense (DoD) is preferred.Demonstrate teaching experience and effectiveness with both US and international participants.Prior DoD experience in instruction is strongly preferred.Demonstrate expertise in a resources management field.Have the ability to make contributions to DoD and/or international organizations in the application of resources management concepts and practice.Have experience interacting with US embassies and foreign government representatives.Demonstrate ability to provide intellectual contributions including professional experience and practical insight to enhance curriculum for the DRMI.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Must be a United States citizen.Must be able obtain and maintain a Non-Critical Sensitive moderate risk Secret clearance.Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.Must be able to work other than normal hours, which may include evening, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.Must be able to travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.This is an SC position due to the nature of the position’s duties and responsibilities. Incumbent must attain DoD Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification and complete related continuous learning requirements in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2017, Title 10 United States Code, Section 384 and Security Cooperation Certification Program 2.0 requirements. Requirements for Proficiency Level 3 - At least 1 year of successful SC work experience with a performance appraisal rating of 3 or better. Incumbent must complete DoD SCW Expert level certification requirements within two years of entering the SC position.
