The Chief Original Content Officer (CCO) is the highest-ranking original content creation/management executive for Arizona Public Media (AZPM), a non-profit media organization that provides radio, television, and digital programming as a community service in Tucson. The Chief Original Content Officer leads a team of 35 (including professional staff, independent producers, and student employees) and provides strategic leadership and oversight in the development of original local content from concept to completion on multiple media platforms. They will directly supervise and mentor the News Director and Series Producers.The successful candidate is a storyteller with the ability to work creatively under deadline pressure and within a non-linear environment on multiple media platforms simultaneously. They will have an established history of mentoring and coaching students, journalists, and media professionals.A key leader in AZPM's Audience Development strategic initiative, the Chief Original Content Officer is responsible for developing and advancing the overall look, style, and content of AZPM's original local productions, which include newscasts, regular series, documentaries, and other long-form and short-form content, growing AZPM's original production portfolio, expanding content offerings, and increasing program appeal, consumption, impact, and, ultimately, audience loyalty and support.This position is a member of the AZPM Executive Management team. Peers include the Chief Development Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Technology Officer. Develop and maintain timely, high-quality, and distinctive original local productions for and about the residents of Southern Arizona.Ensure that all AZPM original productions are of the highest quality and adhere to AZPM's established editorial and ethical standards.Oversee the recruitment, development, and management of AZPM news teams, AZPM producers, and on-air talent.Establish consistent identity, content, look, sound, style, and feel of AZPM original television, radio, and digital productions.Offer structural, technical, storytelling, and audio/visual expertise and consistent and constructive feedback to continue improving AZPM original local content.Oversee original news and public affairs productions on all platforms.Lead teams of professionals to work on in-house development or acquisition programs, including potential seasonal, weekly, or daily formats.Identify and engage freelancers to assist with the production of original content as needed.Work with other stakeholders within the organization to ensure that AZPM content will meet, and often exceed, the expectations of audiences and members.Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and responsibilities.Train, manage, and continuously coach program teams in creative audio/video and production skills.Provide editorial supervision to ensure the excellence, originality, and diversity of stories and participants for production, and the accessibility and relevance of content to diverse audiences.Hire, supervise, train, and manage direct reports. Provide work direction, constructive performance coaching, mentorship, performance assessments, and ongoing feedback.Foster a creative and productive work environment to ensure communicative and efficient production.Create development opportunities and individualized development plans and training to enhance staff and student skills and foster growth, within fiscal limits.Develop editorial policy and direction in collaboration with the CEO.Collaborate with direct reports to create and manage division budgets.Analyze data to determine the stories, topics, and techniques that perform best with audiences to improve AZPM offerings.Consistently share top-line takeaways with stakeholders.Ensure original content is compliant with government and industry regulations and supports AZPM's editorial standards, code of ethics, purpose, mission, and vision.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.Minimum of 9 years of related work experience, including 5 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Experience leading and managing teams, projects, programs, or functions.Direct management and supervision experience of creative personnel.Preferred Qualifications
