For a child who is going through a life-threatening illness, you can make a difference by lifting their spirits through the power of music.JoyRx Music draws on the universal power of music to energize and lift spirits. Our music program helps children find joy during the stressful and painful experiences related to extended hospitalizations and treatments for life-threatening illnesses.Our Volunteer Hallway Musicians are a critical piece of this program, filling the hospital lobbies and hallways with music. This truly transforms the hospital environment for children, families, and staff from the moment they enter the building.Our musicians come to their preferred hospital, Randall or Doernbecher Children's Hospital, with their instrument ready to play a two-hour set of thoughtful and sensitive music. The intention is to create a welcoming environment for anyone in the hospital space, to mitigate the stress brought on by hospital stays or treatments.Volunteers can gain experience in the pediatric healthcare setting, learn about trauma-informed care, and be part of making a difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families, while practicing their musical skills.Our Mission:We know it takes more than medicine to treat cancer and serious illness. When a child is facing life’s most challenging moments, they also need emotional healing. For over 28 years, we’ve been delivering programs to help sick kids find their Joy — one song, one friendship, one breath of ocean air at a time.
