The primary mission of the Music program at

OSU

is to provide undergraduate education. Students may seek BA, BS, BM degrees in music as well as a music minor.

Some appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis.

OSU .Key Responsibilities100% Teaching and Assigned DutiesInstructors may be needed to teach individual, one-on-one music lessons to undergraduate and graduate students. Lesson instruction may be needed for voice, piano, guitar, or a variety of instruments associated with band or orchestra.

Assignment of final duties are defined during the hiring process. Full-time positions may include a service component.What You Will NeedBachelors degree in Music, and/or equivalent professional experience with demonstrated ability to teach at the college level.

In order to receive consideration for professional experience, applicants must have demonstrated successful teaching of post-secondary students and attained success with experience in the following areas:

Knowledge of repertoire appropriate for post-secondary students in their area of expertise.Professional experience as a performer on their major instrument over a period of not less than 3 years on a regional or national level.Understanding of the pedagogical practices particular to their instrument. Regional reputation as teacher and/or performer.A demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to HaveMasters degree in Music, Music Education, the Arts, and/or equivalent professional experience with demonstrated ability to teach at the college level.

Performances with major ensembles and in major venues.Evidence of professional success by former students.
