The Video Editor is responsible for providing post-production support on Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) videos created for Pepperdine University.

The Video Editor will demonstrate advanced video design principles with a comprehensive understanding of industry practices as an experienced digital communication professional. The role will be responsible for producing, designing, and delivering moderate to complex videos that tell the Pepperdine story while maintaining brand and voice. The Video Editor will possess a clear command of the complete video production process, specializing in post-production editing, color grading, sound and motion graphics. Candidates will have a high level of brand & design sense, self-sufficiency, and strong communication skills and be able to take creative direction in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Integrated Marketing Communications is directly tasked with supporting the University's mission and strategic plan by building brand equity, elevating the University's national reputation, providing strong and consistent institutional message leadership, and implementing effective integrated marketing and communication strategies. The Video Editor fulfills a central role in helping the department accomplish its goals.

Duties

Video Post-Production: Execute expert-level video editing including color grading, audio editing, titling, graphic design, 2D/3D motion graphics, sound design, encoding, and image handling to achieve optimum results. Maintain brand standards and aesthetics and export final products to adhere to industry standards for quality and compatible codecs.

Media Logging: Capture, transfer and log all selected video files into a shared storage device. Effectively determine and filter the best shots. Help maintain a digital file storage organizational system. Perform audio and video conversion and encoding.

File Management and Archive: Maintain file/folder organizational structure on shared storage. Prepare and package files for long term storage.

Video Production Support: Assist in video productions as needed, including transport, setup, strike, and media management (card offloading).

Consultation, Planning, Collaboration: Utilize project management software to update project status and store all pertinent records. Provide client consultation to help determine the best approach to meeting clients strategic goals. Collaborate with the Integrated Marketing team and university partners on strategic and creative approaches to projects to meet objectives within time and cost constraints.

Research and develop new technologies/tools, creative trends, and skills. Implement & train team members.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for a hands-on professional well versed in working in a collaborative team environment with excellent video editing skills and experience creating various forms of targeted video projects. A self-starter with a passion for visual storytelling with a strong sense of design with the ability to manage changing priorities, deadlines, and customer needs while working on multiple projects simultaneouslyin a fast paced production environment.

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Media Production, Journalism, Film, Video Editing or appropriate professional experience in related fields required. 3+ years demonstrated professional experience working as a Video Editor utilizing either Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer. 3+ years experience with Adobe suite of products, including Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. 2+ years experience working with a shared/network storage device. 2+ years experience with audio editing & color grading. 2+ years experience with motion graphics and effects.

Experience with industry standard video editing, color grading, audio editing/mixing, and motion graphics software.

Must have a strong knowledge and experience with different video formats, codecs, frame rates, audio compression, and standards for multiple viewing platforms (broadcast, social, web, presentation).

Knowledge of production techniques and workflows including videography, compression, asset management, and file delivery.

Experience with adhering to established project file management systems.

Highly creative, organized and able to work independently with little direction.

Aptitude for learning and applying new technologies quickly and effectively.

Highlyexperienced with Google suite is required.

Preferred: Master's degree or advanced professional certificate in Communications, Media Production, Journalism, Film, Video Editing. Experience working in marketing and higher education. Ability to work and participate in a team environment as well as independently.

Experience using audio editing software such as Adobe Audition, Fairlight, or Protools is a plus.

Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D software applications such as After Effects, Maya, or Cinema 4D is a plus.

Understanding key trends and issues in video post-production; comprehensive awareness and interest in new trends, platforms, and technologies for the emerging digital landscape.

Proven artistic and creative ability with a related portfolio of recent work samples.

Very strong organization, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to apply video theories and put them into practice with in-depth understanding of visual communications.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $28.62 - $31.80 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package .
