Job SummaryFunction as one of band directors for the Instrumental Department and teach music education coursework under the supervision of the Chair of Instrumental Activities & Music Education and the leadership of the Dean of the Winters School of Music.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Duties and responsibilities listed are essential job functions and exclude functions which are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties.Conduct one of the concert bands for the WSM.Teach music education coursework at the undergraduate and the graduate levels.Assist the Dean of the WSM with the administration of the Fully Online DA in Music Primary Emphasis Music Education.Assist with the Spirit of Carey.Supervise student teachers with other faculty assigned to this task.Assist the Chair of Instrumental Activities & Music Education with tracking of progress of music education students including, but not limited to, Praxis II scores.Continually reimagine music education at William Carey with the Chair of Instrumental Activities & Music Education to keep our reputation as innovators in our region.Teach applied lessons, classes, or lead ensembles in other areas depending on training and expertise.Work with the Chair of Instrumental Activities & Music Education and the Dean of the Winters School of Music for an annual budget.Develop and maintain an active recruitment strategy for the Instrumental Department.Other duties as assigned by the Chair of Instrumental Activities & Music Education and the Dean of the School of Music.Physical DemandsMust have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of timeMust have vision to read small print and a computer screenMust have the mobility to move around rehearsal spaces and music facilitiesMust have the ability to lift and carry 25+ poundsRequired QualificationsMaster’s degree in MusicABD in a Music Education related terminal degreePreferred QualificationsK-12 Teaching ExperienceCollegiate teaching experienceTerminal Degree in Music Education
