This unique position is exposed to, and helps provide budgetary solutions for numerous statewide issues that impact efforts beyond the DOL. If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for, apply today so we can learn more about you!This position is open only to classified permanent employees of the State of Colorado, individuals currently on reemployment lists, and former employees eligible for reinstatement as Budget & Policy Analyst III.WHAT YOU WILL DOThe Budget & Policy Analyst III works in collaboration with the Budget Director and the Operations and Budget Unit to perform all budget-related activities and support the work of the Unit. The position is responsible for annual budget creation, fiscal note preparation, supplemental/budgetary amendment requests, and cash fund fee setting analyses.Responsibilities include:Prepares budget proposal requirements including budget schedules and new budget requests, including the accurate display of budget expenses that tie to the statewide financial system and appropriate projections for request year expenses and DOL budgetary needsCoordinates and performs fiscal note analysis

Reviews, distributes, analyzes, and drafts agency fiscal responses to proposed legislation and ballot initiativesPartners with subject matter experts in DOL sections to facilitate analysis and ensures accuracy of analysisDrafts the agency response for a large volume of requests in a short turnaround time

Conducts analysis to complete the annual Statewide Common Policy allocations for Legal Services to State Agencies (LSSA); assembles the appropriate data, analyze legal hours and litigation data and provides recommendations to the Budget Director for the most appropriate allocations to ensure reasonableness, accommodating for 3-year trends, any appropriate true up to the allocations based on previous allocations and use, and that will withstand client agency and audit inquiries.Salary note: Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
