Brand and Artist Relations Manager

to lead the management of one of our premium drum brands. As the Brand and Artist Relations Manager, you are a key member of the Roland drums and percussion team. This position requires a hands-on, proactive, and collaborative leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, passion for brand excellence and a love of drums.The Brand Manager is fundamentally responsible for driving growth, profitability and building brand equity in their brand. Acts as the principal brand champion to ensure that the products, services, and product lines that fall under their brand resonate with current and potential customers. Functions interdepartmentally as the point person for all things related to the brand while exemplifying the company’s core values.Working closely with R&D, production, operations, marketing, and sales leaders, you will develop strategies and plans that maximize ROI against core business objectives and priorities. This role offers you the opportunity to leverage your leadership skills to grow the Slingerland Drums brand.WHAT YOU’LL DO AS THE BRAND AND ARTIST RELATIONS MANAGER:Responsible for development and implementation of the brand strategy, analyzing brand positioning, utilizing insight from channel partners, consumers and sales reps, including monitoring trends and competitor activities.Manages the product lifecycle for the brand to keep the range of products, series, and price points updated and aligned with the brand strategy. This includes recommending new products to be introduced as well as discontinuing products at the end of the lifecycle.In collaboration with R&D, coordinates detailed product launch plan and go-to-market strategies, and leads and manages the plan up to and through product introduction and roll-out.Develops and presents Quarterly Business Reviews to company leadership to recommend long term vision, mid-term opportunities and short-term objectives for the brand, as well as evaluating brand financial performance.Artist RelationsConsult on new artist signings, negotiate contract levels and maintain current roster database.Provide all aspects of support for endorsers including order entry, production tracking, product delivery, related manufacturing issues and maintaining positive working relationships with artists.Supervise specific artist and backline budgets, report and advise on expenditures.Manage backline support.Liaise with other departments regarding endorsers.Serve as artist representative at trade shows, clinics and other scheduled events.Product DevelopmentCollaborates with R&D to drive new product development and innovation with specific focus on product specifications, differentiated features, competitive pricing and market niche for all new products.Works with Purchasing and/or R&D to identify potential suppliers and completes First Article inspection reports.Works with R&D to prototype product samples and advise as to any needed specification changes.Collaborates with all stakeholders when changing any existing product specifications. When changes are confirmed, disseminates info to necessary departments and updates internal systems, so related assets can be updated and distributed.MarketingDevelops the Go-To-Market plan for all new product introductions and strategic marketing initiatives.Works with digital marketing, creative, content, and events to create effective brand communications.Identifies target audience and works with Marketing team to develop marketing tactics.Works directly with marketing by providing product and schedule for creation of photos and copy for the website, product hub and packaging.Works with Marketing Team to develop creative assets and ad campaigns.Develops and ensures all product and brand information is appropriately represented on the companies digital channels (website, social, email, etc).Assists Marketing with measuring and tracking marketing campaigns, then assesses Return On Investment and Key Performance Indicators.Brand level revenue and marginWorks with finance and operations to set the annual brand budget and revenue targets.Responsible that every SKU offered fits into plan and delivers the brand budget goals.Proposes product level pricing recommendations with a focus on balancing price point vs profit.Works with Purchasing on cost reductions while ensuring quality standards.Responsible for oversight of brand level profit and revenue goals and presents brand analytics to stakeholders.SalesCollaborates with Sales proactively to identify sales, promotional and seasonal opportunities.Additionally, monitors and alerts Sales of overstock and slower moving products.Prepares necessary sales tools, such as Price Lists, Product Hub data, reports and Sales Specials as needed.Partners with sales to evaluate and address dealer feedback on product mix, quality, pricing and otherconsumer feedback.InventoryMaintains healthy inventory levels to achieve company goals by tracking inventory and sales of 80/20 products to mitigate potential stock out issues.Maintains healthy turns for MTS products.Makes recommendations and suggestions to reduce the back-order lead times for both MTS and MTO products.Collaborates with Quality Control (QC) to improve product quality and inspection criteria. Provides root cause defect analysis and facilitates the constant improvement process. This includes working with R&D, as well as suppliers both domestically and internationallyTrainingProvides internal and external product training.Manages the development of product knowledge base information and creation of product schematics in partnership with R&D.Works with customer support to ensure product information is accurately conveyed to customers and the team is trained to troubleshoot common issues.RequirementsWHAT YOU BRING AS THE BRAND AND ARTIST RELATIONS MANAGER:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field10+ years of progressive experience contributing to the growth of a passion based brandDemonstrated focus on profitability and brand growthData-driven decision-making skills with a solid business and financial acumenProven track record in an organization that is regarded for superior products/services and innovationStrong problem-solving skills enable you to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, and gather and analyze information skillfullyProven desire and ability to think creatively coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to influence and build strong relationships across the organization (sales, R&D, ops, finance, marketing, etc.) and with external partners (B2C, B2B, trade, artists)Great verbal communication skills demonstrated through clear and persuasive communications, and a demonstrated strength with group presentations to conduct meetingsCuriosity and a desire to constantly test, learn and optimizeThe individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure qualityAbility to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected eventsAn understanding of the complexity of business on a global scale.
