Public Communications Specialist

Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. Working with the Library Director, develops, implements, and maintains marketing and public relations plans; creates and disperses press releases, newsletters, ads, and other public information; promotes use of the library's webpages; creates and maintains visual standards to assure all library locations present public information in a consistent manner; creates attractive public relations materials including flyers, brochures, bookmarks, and handouts.For more information about the Library and this position please go to:

A bachelor's degree in media, marketing, communications, or equivalent with three years of experience as a publicist or graphic designer.Skills:

Considerable writing, editing, content design, and desktop publishing skills;Proficiency in use of Adobe Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, and most Microsoft software;Superior ability in developing graphics, posters, bookmarks, flyers, etc.Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form;Strong commitment to public service;Ability to create online communications that meet ADA accessibility guidelines;Proficiency in communicating through Facebook, Twitter, and other social mediaStandard Office ConditionsMust be able to hear and communicate effectively with or without accommodation.Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.This position reports to the Library Director and frequently interacts with library managers and local media representatives.The position occasionally requires evenings and weekend hours to meet deadlines.
