The Disney Branded Television (DBT) group oversees the creation, development, and production of live-action and animation television content for children, teenagers, and families under the Disney brand through the Disney Television Animation studio. This content is aired on the group's various cable channels, including Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and the Disney + Streaming platform. DBT works on developing original series, movies, and other content that align with Disney's family-friendly brand image and appeal to its target audience. These television properties could include distribution deals, marketing strategies, and brand management.Because of DBT's strong use of commercial and custom software technologies to create its products, its use of technology, engineering, development techniques, and software is essential to its production operations and workflows. We’re seeking an intellectually curious, business-savvy, analytical powerhouse to join the Disney Branded Television Technology team as a Senior Software Engineer in Test. In this role, you will develop and support solutions across DBT: Productions and Development.Responsibilities:The SPPE is a pipeline engineer responsible for developing the Studio’s production tracking and management toolset. This includes designing and developing pipeline scripts and applications and maintaining the existing pool of pipeline scripts and applications for the Television Animation business unit.

software solutions

recommendations

to

improve

production

software

output,

efficiency,

and

workflow

Software

analysis

and

design

Code

testing/integration

High-level

support

of

developed

code

The

SPPE

partners

with

the

technology

department’s

management, department

staff,

and

production

personnel

to

determine the Studio Pipeline needs. Additionally, the SPPE reviews existing pipeline software

capabilities

to

decide

what

changes

can

be

made

within

existing solutions

and

when

new solutions must

be

added

to

provide

solutions

-

whichever

meets

productions

need

in

the timeliest manner

and

fits

within

the SPPEcific

budget.The

SPPE

is

responsive

to

our

environment’s

critical

production

timelines

and

is

able

to

analyze

bugs or other software

glitches,

track

them

to

the

corrupted

code, implement timely

repairs,

and

make

recommendations

for

avoiding

similar situations via

code/software/system

changes

and code management

procedures.

Basic Qualifications:4

years + working

in

a production

pipeline

software development environment

or

equivalent

experience.

Proficiency in:Windows PowerShell and Linux command line functions

Experience with CI/CD workflows.

Python

Git

Software development and scripting for DCC applications such as Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, Houdini

Software development and scripting for Production Workflows and Production tracking applications such as ShotGrid, Ftrack, etc.

Must

be

able

to

work

independently

with

technical and non-technical staff

to

determine

system

needs.

Strong

documentation

techniques

and

creativity

in

developing easy-to-use

tools

and

“quick

fixes”

Able

to

communicate

technical

information

effectively – both

written

and

verbally.

Able to strategically solve complex technical issues

Able to learn and work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment

Must be well-organized and detail oriented.

Must be familiar with Television or Film production or any other fast-paced environment.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or Bachelor of Arts in Film and Animation Production, or equivalent industry experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in one or more of the following technologies:C/C++, Python back-end development

OpenImageIO, OpenColorIO.

Nuke, Maya, ShotGrid, FTrack development.

Thinkbox Deadline

Javascript & REACT experience.

PyQt/PySide

Experience with environment managers like Rez

The hiring range for this position in Glendale is $112,600 to $151,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
