The Colorado Senate Democrats are seeking a strategic Communications Director to amplify the successes of the Senate Majority at the Capitol. The Communications Director works with Senate leadership to develop and disseminate caucus messaging, establish the caucus narrative, and drive media attention.Minimum Qualifications:At least 3 years of experience in communications for political organizations, campaigns, government, or media.Strong initiative and high standards for performance.Outstanding written and oral communication skills.Exceptional people skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.Proven successful record working with and pitching press.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Strong political sense and discretion.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Preferred Qualifications:Understanding of the Colorado political landscape.Sufficient fluency in spoken and written Spanish.1-2 years of experience supervising staff.Responsibilities include:Developing a communications and messaging strategy for the caucus.Providing strategic communications advice and crisis management.Conducting media trainings and preparing members for interviews.Developing media campaigns for priority legislation.Serving as the primary spokesperson and point of contact for media.Overseeing the Communications team.Equal Opportunity: We welcome applicants from all walks of life, and strongly encourage people of color, women, LGBTQ, immigrant, refugee, people with disabilities, and other communities to apply.
