Shive-Hattery has an exciting opportunity for a Process Designer supporting our Industrial team in our Cedar Rapids, IA office. This is an early career opportunity ranging from 3-5 years of experience focused on Process Design; a focus on Food and Pharmaceutical is a plus.
As a Process Designer at Shive-Hattery, you will work with our Lead Designer to update conceptual layouts, refine piping layouts, create visualizations and much more.
You possess a strong desire to collaborate and work seamlessly with others. You excel in planning, organizing, and prioritizing each step of a project with precision and efficiency. Your professional oral and written communication skills enable you to articulate ideas effectively and interact confidently with colleagues and clients alike.
Additionally, you have the ability to drive and access to an automobile, facilitating your mobility for work-related tasks. You are open to occasional travel, including limited overnight stays, adapting flexibly to the demands of the job.
Furthermore, you're comfortable with heights, able to climb ladders and work off elevated platforms and open grating when necessary. Lastly, you're diligent about safety, willing to wear personal protective equipment as required for specific clients and job sites.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in process piping design
Adept at interpreting and working with piping and instrumentation diagrams (PandIDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and block flow diagrams (BFDs) with ease. Your expertise extends to aseptic/hygienic process piping design, particularly within pharmaceutical, food and beverage, bio-refinery, wastewater, and similar industrial sectors, where you are well-versed in best design practices.
You possess a comprehensive understanding of piping materials and fittings, enabling you to make informed decisions during the design process. Your skill set also includes the ability to generate construction documents such as isometric spool drawings, orthographic plan, and elevations, as well as equipment layouts, ensuring clarity and accuracy in project execution.
Furthermore, you are proficient in utilizing 3D software tools like Navisworks, Autodesk Inventor, and point clouds, enhancing your ability to visualize and optimize designs. Additionally, your familiarity with Microsoft Office software provides you with the necessary tools for effective communication and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
