The Marketing and Event Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s marketing initiatives as the liaison between the foundation and our marketing firm and serves as the Move for MDS 5K Awareness Walk event specialist (working with an outsourced day of planner).This role is responsible for ensuring that all the Foundation’s initiatives are fully marketed based on allowable budget and assists in raising nearly half of the foundation’s annual unrestricted dollars through Move for MDS walks. This position is responsible for generating awareness, excitement, and enthusiasm in the MDS community and beyond.This position requires frequent travel throughout the United States and Internationally.Serve as the primary liaison between the foundation and the external marketing firm and website development/hosting firm, ensuring seamless communication and overseeing all marketing operations, including website maintenance.

Work alongside grant consultant for submission of Move for MDS grants.Act as the primary point of contact for all walk related vendors and day of walk event planner (outsourced).Successfully recruit, manage, and coach volunteers to achieve fundraising goals utilizing knowledge of marketing principles for peer-to-peer fundraising purposes.Manage all day-of coordination which includes run of show, seamless event registration process, volunteer management, signage, day-of vendors and participant experience. Proficiency in strategic planning for fundraising events is necessary.Utilize databases and software to track team individual, and peer to peer fundraising, as well as donor interactions. Collaborate with internal staff on database and online giving/registration platforms to ensure seamless processes and reporting.Move for MDS budget and expense oversight.Manage all foundation exhibit and conference participation.Coordinate conference attendance and booth reservation.Choose materials for distribution at conferences.Oversee the Development and Office Coordinator during their specific role of packing and shipping materials.Schedule meetings with pharmaceutical representatives and coordinate dissemination of information to internal staff prior to these meetings.Ensure internal staff know when they are expected to arrive and depart from conferences, choose the hotel that staff will stay in, and alongside the Executive Director, ensure all staff know their role at each specific conference.Attend and manage the booth at conferences.

Oversee the foundation’s third-party fundraising initiatives as opportunities present themselves.What you Bring:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.3-5 years of proven experience in marketing and event planning - including demonstrated success at prospecting, cultivating and stewarding event teams, sponsors and participants.Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners.Ability to manage fundraising volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy.Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication and follow-through.Ability and willingness to travel for each of the Move for MDS Walks across the United States (maximum of 5 per year), to conferences held in the United States and Internationally (up to 10 per year) and for in person staff meetings (up to 2 times per year).Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends for walks and conferences.Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn Qgiv, Constant Contact and Donor Perfect.Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs. of materials.

This position is a remote position and requires the candidate to successfully work remotely in an environment with little distraction during work hours. Our organization is based out of New Jersey, with team members located across the country.
