Fabrication Designer needed for a direct hire role just north of Shelton, CT. Growing organization seeking to add a motivated structural steel design drafter to a solid engineering team. The Designer prepares detailed plans, drawings and other documents for the fabrication and erection of steel columns, beams, stairs, handrails, joists, and decking used in the construction of buildings. The right person for this role will have 1-2 years’ work experience with 3D design, (Tekla software highly desired) along with the knowledge of structural steel design/detailing, including the ability to read design drawings. Must have a high degree of attention to detail, perception and visualization of structural assemblies as well as basic math & geometry & GD&T. ResponsibilitiesPreparation of shop drawings for projects using Tekla Structures and Tekla PowerfabCheck all necessary system input for finalization of fabrication drawings, shop details and Bill of MaterialUtilize Tekla 3D software in the preparation of structural steel projects working in accordance with AISC codeHelp produce accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as they pertain to design.Meet deadlines while maintaining a high accuracy and quality.Communicate clearly and professionally with leadership understanding customer needs, project timelines, and ongoing projectsRequirementsAssociates in Mechanical Engineering along with 1-2 years related design experience preferredProven knowledge of creation of 3D CAD modeling, preferably using Tekla Structures and Tekla Powerfab (ERP)Must possess high attention to detail and basic math to include GD&TConstruction industry and knowledge of structural steel is highly preferredDemonstrated professionalism with a strong engineering curiosity and desire to develop and grow personally and professionally
