Essential Functions:Develop and manage high-value flight hardware test documents for multiple projects, from concept to execution.Develop test requirements and verification methods through close collaboration with the Systems Engineering team.Interface with the customer, negotiate test requirements and methods, jointly develop plans, and communicate and report on test progress.Represent test engineering at major program milestones and act as expert reviewer at Test Readiness Reviews.Identify testing methods and test fixturing for risk mitigation, prototype development, and requirement verification.Plan and perform RF performance and environmental testing of hardware, including functional testing (deployment/stow of deployable structures), vibration testing, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, and other qualification tests.Develop and improve test capabilities of in-house facilities and interface with sister companies to leverage existing test capabilities across the business.Collaborate with various areas of the business, such as technicians, product and technical leadership, and program managers.Effectively lead team of test engineers on complex projectsAbility to work mostly independently with minimal supervision.Ideal Experience:B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, physics, mathematics, or other space-related discipline with a minimum of 10+ years industry/related experience.A Master’s or PhD degree in a related field may substitute for 2 years of experience.Hands-on experience in space, small satellites, and/or space-based deployable structures.Experience a ssembling and/or testing hardware for space environments.Experience in overseeing and

processing data from RF performance and environmental tests

such as vibration, shock, thermal cycling and/or thermal-vacuum testing.Ability to

write test documentation,

such as test plans, procedures, and reports for highly complex, major projects.Experience with

preparing and leading project stage-gate meetings

(such as CDR, TRR, etc.) and interfacing with customers.Desired Skills:Experience testing antennas/microwave communications systems.Experience with rigging, off-loading, and testing of large structures is a strong plus.Background/understanding in composites design, analysis and manufacturing.Familiarity with NASA/SMC standards such as GSFC-STD-7000A (GEVS) or SMC-S-016.Experience using CAD to design and fabricate mechanical systems, fixturing, and/or mechanisms.Experience with structural and/or metrology test methods for characterizing structures.Proficient with using manual and electronic test equipment to measure loads, dimensions, displacements, electrical parameters, etc.
