Position Opportunity: The Church of the Holy Spirit (CHS) seeks a full-time Director of Communications to establish and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to support its vision and plans for strategic growth. The Director of Communications is a creative storyteller who will partner with our clergy, heads of ministries, and our community members to understand and communicate their stories.
The Director reports directly to the Rector and has a collaborative partnership with the Vice Rector and Senior Associate Rector. This position oversees and works on the creation and management of internal and external communications, including website maintenance, creation of weekly newsletter The Witness, creation of video and print media content, and other forms of communication.
The ideal candidate will:
Take initiative in managing all internal and external communication channels, identifying and leveraging opportunities to amplify CHS’ values and presence.
Operate with a high degree of autonomy while also working collaboratively with the clergy and staff.
Independently produce and publish high-quality communications materials including-social media platforms, multimedia content/videos, graphics and presentations.
Proactively build and maintain relationships with community partners, ensuring that the church remains a vibrant and active presence in Lake Forest and the surrounding communities.
Skills and Abilities
Strong analytic, interpersonal communication and writing skills
Deep understanding of marketing, digital advertising, graphic design, and social media tools/opportunities
A natural storyteller who loves hearing and telling stories, recognizes great stories, and is passionate about communicating, marketing, and growing the church and building community.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Proficient in Constant Contact, Realm, Adobe Suite Programs
