Telecommunications Grants and Funding Senior Director

This role will lead Conexon's Federal and State Grants and Funding team in the pursuit of subsidy funding to build rural FTTH (fiber to the home) networks in partnership with our electric cooperative clients. To date, Conexon has successfully obtained over $2 billion dollars in federal, state and local community funding for our ISP (Conexon Connect) as well as our electric cooperative partners. This funding supplements billions of investment in the buildout of high-speed fiber optic broadband networks throughout rural America. Conexon's Rural Electric Cooperative Consortium was the second largest authorized RDOF recipient and is currently preparing to pursue substantial funding through the NTIA BEAD program.

This role will lead and expand a team of funding professionals focused on continuing our success in obtaining funding to support our unique deployment strategy and business model targeted at bridging the broadband digital divide. This role will lead the strategy, analysis and execution of grant and funding efforts in alignment with the company's business strategy and goals.

The role will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and will be a key strategic contributor to the growth of the company. This position can be performed remotely.

This position would include, but not be limited to, the following roles and responsibilities:

Develop Conexon's grant and funding strategy to align with senior leaderships growth strategy for the company.

Lead the Grants and Funding Team. Identify and recruit appropriate resources to grow and enhance the existing skillset and expertise of the current team of funding professionals.

Collaborate with peer Compliance team members to assure a comprehensive grant and funding program is executed for the company.

Represent Conexon externally as a funding subject matter expert at industry and community event opportunities.

Collaborate with key internal stakeholders in peer departments to assure they are informed on funding program commitments as well as forward looking strategy impacting network design, build and deployment.

Collaborate with Business Development resources to support the obtainment of new clients/accounts.

Lead a team to identify, analyze, monitor and pursue funding opportunities across federal, state and local community programs.

Develop and execute a BEAD funding strategy across multiple state programs.

Collaborate with Business Development resources to build relationships with key stakeholders and influencers at state Broadband Offices.

Guide team to support electric cooperative client's pursuit of grants and funding opportunities.

Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill the objectives of this position.

Key candidate attributes:

Experience leading a team of funding professionals

5 -10 years management experience

Broadband industry experience strongly desired

FTTH network architecture and design knowledge strongly desired

GIS skillset preferred

Knowledge of RDOF, ARPA and BEAD funding programs strongly preferred

Strategic and analytical thinker

Electric industry experience a plus

ISP service provider experience a plus

Strong communication skills

Displays leadership skills

Instills confidence and professionalism

Capable and credible interfacing with C-Suite clients and state office Broadband Directors

Strong public speaking and presentation skills
