Job Summary

What you will do?

The Event Design and Communication Specialist is responsible for designing, writing, managing, and producing University and Development Events? marketing and communication materials and strategies, including print and electronic invitation packages, digital assets, web content, social media efforts, and other event collateral materials (program books, signs, mementos, name tag stock, etc.).

Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities

90% Event Design Development:

Collaborate with campus partners and stakeholders to design and write content for all print and digital invitation packages (invitations, registration forms, event websites, maps, confirmations, etc.).Collaborate with event teams to design, create and produce event materials to support event goals for in person and virtual events (programs, name books, signage, give-aways, posters, name tag designs, etc.).Collaborate with the Event Design Team on task assignments and workload to ensure all deadlines are being met.Design flyers and advertisements for public events, create promotional plan, and contract with appropriate outlets.Oversee creation and production of ceremonial certificates and awards.Responsible for script production (compile content, write connecting language/stage direction, and produce and distribute documents for stage and vendor use).Identify, select, and collaborate with internal and external vendors to produce event materials designed within the UDE team.Participate on event planning teams to contribute to and support the development of internal and external marketing plans in support of event goals.Creation and maintenance of event websites; coordination and writing of content for event websites created by others/vendors.Proofing of printed materials (programs, citations, invitations, confirmations, website content, registration forms, etc.)Research and explore more/new uses for technology in event marketing.Utilize teamwork.com for checking individual task assignments and updating project statusesTrack budget estimates and actual costs for projects and collaborate with internal partners to ensure events stay on track financially.

10% Other:

Participate in special department projects, goal setting, and task forces.Attend monthly Development Council meetings.Monitor event industry standards and trends.Maintain knowledge of U-M policies and standard practices.Staff events as assigned.

Note

Overtime necessary to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends, some holidays.Travel may be required and may occur any time of the year, including holidays.

Required Qualifications*

A bachelor?s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum two years creative design, graphic design, and/or marketing experience.Collaborative and team approach to work.Graphic design experience (portfolio of examples required)Independence, initiative, and judgment skills are necessary for the successful execution of duties.Strong time management, project management, and problem-solving skills are required.Superior proofreading ability and written and oral communication skills are required.Solid knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop), HTML / CSS, and drag/drop email marketing platforms.
