Job Summary

: Multimedia Specialist works to share the diocesan story through the development of visually engaging videos, audio and photography services. As a member of the communications team, the individual collaborates to create campaigns, assist in creating scripts, develops storyboards, shoots, edits, and delivers quality videos, photos, reels, graphic content, and other visual media that can be shared across a variety of platforms. This position reports to the Director of Communications - Catholic Spirit and operates with a moderate latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.

Essential Job Duties

:

As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Austin in both your professional and personal life.

Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.

Develop a video/photography strategy that supports the overall communication objectives of the Diocese of Austin.

Collaborate with the team and cross functional diocesan teams to develop and execute holistic campaigns including print, social, mass media, and graphics that support events, and other initiatives leveraging resources and expertise to craft and amplify key campaigns.

Create and develop content for digital platforms, including but not limited to web, social media, podcast, magazine and other channels that inform, educate and inspire.

Produce video, audio, graphics, animation, and interactive media in support of diocesan bishop and ministries that will enhance communications efforts through use of a variety of video, still and drone type camera equipment.

Ensure consistency in brand voice and messaging across all platforms.

Actively engage in the Catholic Media Association, Photography Studio, among other professional entities, to build upon skills and stay current of new trends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

Basic knowledge of theology and a strong understanding of the liturgy, Church language, and usage.

Knowledge of video and audio recording with some knowledge of editing software.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective, positive relationships with internal and externals.

Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious and laity.

Skill in operating position-appropriate technology, including various programs, apps, photography, video and drone type equipment, and other similar equipment and technology.

Skill in clearly and accurately communicating orally and in writing, including skill in communicating complex and technical information to a wide variety of audiences.

Ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and utilize effective time management techniques.

Ability to create and execute project work plans to meet changing needs and requirements.

Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Radio/Television/Film, media, communications or design from an accredited American university or equivalent in a foreign country, or Associate degree with a minimum of 4 years' experience.

Two (2) years of work experience in video and photography creation and production with a work portfolio.

Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.

Valid Texas driver's license.

Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
