We are hiring an Agricultural Marketing Supervisor. This position is located in our Office of Agricultural Marketing, Organic Section.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Responsible for the management and direction of the Kentucky Organic Certification Program.* Supervises support staff and inspectors. Manages the workloads and task assignments including application reviews, inspections of operations, and final reviews for organic certification.* Communicates with internal and external agencies as necessary. Communicates with inspectors and support staff daily.* Maintains Kentucky Department of Agriculture accreditation with USDA NOP. Responsible for all federal, state and any other relevant reporting requirements for the organic program. Writes and sends letters for any files that require deferral or noncompliance responses.* Leads group discussion of issues regarding certification decisions and other complicated issues. Researches inputs to determine compliance.* Provides input on policy and procedures updates, changes and interpretation. Participates and coordinates regular Organic Program Team meetings and works to formulate and achieve goals. Reevaluates and updates the Organic Certification Program Quality Manual annually.* Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:

* HACCP Experience and certificate of training.* Processor, Crop, and Livestock IOIA inspector training.* ISO 22000 training.* Experience with 3rd party GAP.* Experience with commercial availability checks and verification of restrictions of items located on the National List.* Experience with the NOP.* Experience in Organic Processing.* Experience in an Organic Certifying Agency.* Policy and regulatory writing experience.* Production experience in organics.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in agriculture.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in the production or marketing of agricultural products.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in the production and/or marketing of agricultural products will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Work typically involves extensive contact with the public. Travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
