Position Summary:

JOB SUMMARY: A CPAP Patient Specialist has earned and maintained certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Respiratory Care Practitioner (CRT or RRT) or as a Registered Nurse (RN). CPAP Patient Specialists work under the direction of the Sleep Center Director and Manager to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve review of clinical documentation for medical necessity, CPAP setup, CPAP compliance monitoring, facilitating resupply of CPAP supplies, or patient care and education.

Daily appointments may include:

* CPAP set -ups, mask changes, additional education for equipment use, and meetings with CPAP equipment representatives.

* Educate patients on different types of sleep disorders including sleep apnea and additional health risks associated.

* Patient education of CPAP machine, masks, and equipment along with proper cleaning, replacement, and compliance.

* Keeping in contact with patient, sleep specialist or PCP, and insurance for compliance approval.

* Contact patient to help with genera l questions, compliance, mask issues, mask leaks, and schedule mask change if needed.

* Contact sleep specialist, or PCP with patient's compliance issues or pressure changes (if needed).

* Contact patient, sleep specialist, or PCP for follow up face to face appointment date. Follow patient treatment as needed for equipment replacement.

* Coordinate and implement automated messaging software.

Position Qualification:

AAS or Certificate in Polysomnography Required

AAS in Respiratory Therapy Preferred
