Music Therapist

The music therapist will provide evidence-based music therapy interventions to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs in a public day school setting.

Responsibilities Include:

Provides direct services utilizing research-based treatment methods to enhance students' social, communicative, motor, sensory, emotional, and cognitive functioning Designs structured, consistent, and predictable lesson plans Consults with classroom teachers and related service providers to implement communication and other adaptive strategies during music therapy sessions Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure

Preferred Skills:

Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies Experience with non- to minimally-speaking students

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program Certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)

Reports to:

Building principal and special education team administrator Director of Special Education & Special Education Coordinator
