Job Summary

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package.

Volunteer Hallway Musician will play their choice of hospital appropriate music in the hallway/lobby of their chosen children's hospital (Randall's or Doernbecher's) for a two hour set. They are welcome to play covers or original songs and it is ok to loop a one hour set to make up the two hours. They will be supervised by Keenan Recker, our Music Team Supervisor, and the set schedule will be determined after the onboarding process based on availability of the student and open slots at the hospitals.

Location: Randall or Doernbecher Children's Hospital Reports on-site to Keenan Recker, Music Team Supervisor, and on-campus to Moreau Center Program Manager, Clare Kennedy.

Core DutiesShow up to hospital in hospital appropriate attire. Set up instrument/equipment and check in with supervisor.Play a two-hour set of music to create a welcoming environment in the children's hospital setting.Break down instrument/equipment and check out with supervisor.Other relevant tasks as assigned

Minimum QualificationsMust have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package (contact finaid@up.edu with questions)Must be able to play instrument that can be played softly, for example: piano or string instrument.Must be comfortable being present and welcoming in a children's hospital setting.Must be over 18 years of age.Must be available to play for at least 2/2-hour sets per month.

Preferred QualificationsExperience with children.Music and/or Education major.Experience in a healthcare setting.

Physical RequirementsAbility to play an instrument for consecutive hours (sitting or standing is fine).
