Marketing Manager

SUMMARY INFORMATION

I. JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading our marketing team and developing and implementing effective marketing strategies. Your primary focus will be on driving business development and creating opportunities to enhance our company's market presence to reach our growth initiatives. This position works closely with the company’s management team to build a brand that exemplifies the company’s vision, mission statement, and connects with the values of our customers.

Report to: Chris Peterson (President)

III. WORKING CONDITIONS AND EFFORT

Work in a typical office setting, regularly subject to extended/flexible hours, with extensive travel required. Travel will be both local (daily), to home office (if remote), throughout our operating territory and other extended travel (as applicable). This position is full-time, Monday-Friday 40 hours per week.

Frequent and important contacts with carriers, producer customers, outside agencies, and staff.

VI. EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

Computer system, printer, phone – more important are interpersonal and negotiation skills. Proficient in Microsoft software, Internet, emailing, and good overall computer skills required.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management and Personnel

Lead and manage a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the team's success.Participate in management level meetings and all company planning activities.Conduct regular division, department, and individual meetings with staff.Responsible for selection and hiring of marketing staff.Manage staff, reports payroll tracking, budgets, and expenses.Manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve maximum results.Complete annual reviews for staff, including assisting staff with goal setting and attaining those goals; as well as regular follow-up meetings throughout the year.Build culture that aligns with the company vision.Support staff wherever needed.Organize and implement training.Monitor and address areas of concerns and/or areas of focus within the department.Ensure staff accountability for completing all processes correctly, efficiently, and according to company service standards.Generate, maintain, review, and report on results.Ensure the training of new marketing associates.Work with executives and management to develop standards, objectives, and to define emerging job roles.

Marketing

Set quarterly face-to-face sales call targets.Communicate weekly plans to Chris-Leef along with prior weeks’ activity results.Conduct in person, video conference, or phone calls to uncover competitive issues, motivate agency personnel, educate on market opportunities, discuss renewal or new business submissions, confirm agent needs and opportunities, and educate customers on Chris-Leef.Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape, and utilize this information to develop effective marketing plans.May need to assist accounting in premium collections regarding agencies.Oversee the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, including digital marketing, social media, content marketing, and traditional advertising.Recommend and implement sales incentives.Train all assigned agencies on Chris-Leef products, programs, website, and procedural needs.Communicate competitive issues to the Executive Team and other members of Management.Recommend solutions regarding distribution system needs.Support an Underwriting philosophy and communicate effectively with other staff.Identify and create additional President’s Club agencies.Respond in a timely manner to the needs of customers.Responsible for completing special projects as directed by the Executive Team.Comply with all standards and procedures.Work with staff to meet marketing expectations, and work with staff to develop marketing plans.Cultivate strategic partnerships and alliances to expand our network and enhance brand visibility.Work with the marketing staff, management, and underwriters to identify agents and/or trends that need attention.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with business objectives and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.Maintain and manage agent relationships.Drive business development initiatives, identifying new market opportunities, and establishing relationships with potential clients and partners.Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to executive management.Manage customer support. Plan and support sales and marketing activities. Organize companywide marketing campaigns and sales efforts, event planning/coordination, etc.

Planning

Set department goals monthly/annually and make sure the goals are met.Conduct regular department review and planning with the Executive Team or Management Team (or as needed).Conduct a quarterly review of departmental and individual goals and status.Lead annual departmental goal setting.Welcome and encourage ideas and suggestions for improvement, and implement changes where needed.Help develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to promote our surplus lines insurance products and services.Help develop and consider new program ideas and help implement the program creation when necessary.Help develop retail agency programs that promote agency growth objectives.Plan, implement, and monitor distribution goals and objectives.Analyze market trends and recommend changes to marketing and business development strategies based on analysis and feedback.

Other

Work with IT to make sure items are addressed and resolved.Assist and support other managers where needed.Maintain thorough documentation.Keep open and constant communication with staff and always have an open door for staff.Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance. Set an example for the rest of the team by going above and beyond what is expected for the betterment of CLGA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.State Property & Casualty Producer License (Preferred or completed upon hire).Proven experience (minimum 5-7 years) in marketing, management, business development, or related roles, preferably in the insurance, financial services industry, or business-to-business distribution.Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.Exposure to or experience in strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to understand insights into actionable marketing plans.Demonstrated success in driving business growth and achieving marketing objectives.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.Proficiency in utilizing various marketing tools, platforms, and analytics software.Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of innovative marketing campaigns.Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.Knowledge of surplus lines insurance and regulatory requirements is a plus.
