Job Summary

The UC Davis Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) obtains material from other libraries for the use of UC Davis faculty, staff and students and provides UC Davis library books and copies to other libraries in the United States and abroad.

Under direction, this position performs specialized duties relating Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery billing management. Creates and maintains billing accounts and invoices. Reports and manages electronic fund transfer accounts with Interlibrary Loan cooperative services and request management software. Manages Document Delivery account registration and maintenance and request fulfillment. Cross-trained to perform ILL Lending and Borrowing functions as needed. Serves as a Desk supervisor and ILL specialist at the Circulation/public service desk according to unit needs.

QualificationsMinimum QualificationsFor full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.Experience using analytical and organizational skills to independently set priorities, balance workloads, apply critical analysis, make decisions and solve problems. Experience implementing complex policies and procedures and implementing improvements to work procedures and policy.Experience using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, library databases and software,Interlibrary Loan management tools, email and other computer programs to manage workloads,and collect, maintain and present quantitative and qualitative data.Experience working in a customer service environment answering questions and providing customer-centric service in person, over the telephone, and via email.Interpersonal and communication skills to successfully interact with a diverse patron and staff population, and to remain calm and exercise tact and compassion when dealing with individuals and intense situations.Writing, editing and proofreading skills to create and maintain professional documents and communications with attention to detail.Organizational skills to work independently, establish priorities, and organize fluctuating workloads for self and staff.Bibliographic skills to retrieve & interpret records & to verify citations using on-line & printed sources, & to determine appropriate tools for bibliographic checking.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a library or in particular an Interlibrary Loan unit.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, adapt to changing priorities, and perform all duties professionally and within specified timelines/deadlines.General knowledge of National and International codes and standards pertaining to Interlibrary Loan.General knowledge of library functions and procedures.Key Responsibilities40% - INTERLIBRARY LOAN & DOCUMENT DELIVERY BILLING35% - INTERLIBRARY LOAN & DOCUMENT DELIVERY SERVICES20% - PUBLIC SERVICE5% - OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
