Position basic responsibilities consist of completing designs for FLSmidth products, including manifold, cyclone, pump, and valve-related components, revising redline drawings, developing assembly arrangements, bill of materials, and fabrication drawings. Working with Project Engineers and other Designers to ensure all project issues are properly addressed and meet the design requirements. The position requires a working knowledge of steel fabrication and machining methods. Able to work unsupervised, following FLSmidth standard practices to analyze the interaction between components. Advanced knowledge of some programming and logic-based thinking. Good understanding of 3D solids software.

Your responsibilities

Review, research, and analyze product design data for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related design specifications to determine the feasibility of the design.Provide detailed drawings for products or systems such as hydro cyclones, equipment manifolds, instruments, controls, pumps, and/or flow systems and accept responsibilities for specific phases of a project to ensure all drawing details are completed.Understand all aspects of the FLSmidth design criteria and can utilize 3D parametric software programs. Catia V5 (preferred) and AutoCAD; as well as other standard office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.Determine the feasibility of designing new production equipment or modifying existing equipment considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations that affect the manufacturing of cyclones, manifolds, pumps, and valves.Assist in the development and integration of design practices and document/present practices for distribution to all team members. Requires strong verbal and written communication skills.Track hours worked daily using SharePoint and meet required goal dates and times set by management.Ability to get along with others and to work in a team environment.Automate current product lines and Determine the feasibility of designing new production equipment or modifying existing equipment considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors all with automation whenever possible.

What you bring

Must have at least five years of related experience in mechanical designs, specifically including machined parts, structural steel, castings, mining, and fabrication drawings. Three years or more 3D solid parametric modeling background, a two-year certificate from college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
