The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for directing all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel. This position oversees the Sales, Marketing, Catering and Convention Services department. The Director of Sales holds a seat on the Executive Committee and reports directly to the General Manager.

General Responsibilities Include:

Oversee all group inquiries including rooms with meetings Sell group bookings through solicitation of new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, client entertainment, site inspections and written communication Prepare, implement, compile data for and manage the strategic sales plan Work and directly communicate with ownership on a continuous basis Prepare and execute annual market plans Develop Sales and Marketing and Catering budget and forecast Group ceilings and strategies through review of competitive data Demand analysis and mix management Recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel staff Actively participate in sales presentations Conduct property tours, site visits and customer meetings Conduct/attend meetings as appropriate to the position Communicate progress, obstacles and promotions with the executive committee to ensure full alignment. Regularly evaluate future or advanced performance or process issues relating to group booking pace, backlog, reservations pace, rate yielding or conversion in an effort to identify any future revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunities Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market and ensure that the Sales Team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territories Skills/Knowledge Required:

Strong computer literacy, with knowledge of Word, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint Exceptional communication skills, passionate, strategic and innovative Able to develop strong work relationships with both Clients and Colleagues Self-confident, proactive, and able to prioritize and make effective decisions Ability to implement processes and methods Ability to manage a budget and maximize customer satisfaction Ability to solve complex problems in an organized manner Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit at a desk, walk, and stand for up to four (4) hours Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity Qualification Standards:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing At least 3 years’ experience as a sales leader, with prior hotel sales experience. Experience dealing with/communicating with ownership groups and asset management. Experience working collaboratively with revenue management. Well rounded knowledge of all market segments and channel sources, as well as ability to develop a strategic plan for each. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Ability to direct, lead, train, motivate & drive a direct sales team; and develop a cooperative & competitive team spirit & winning attitude. Must be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines

Education:

High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience:

Two (2) to four (4) years previous experience in a Director of Sales role at a luxury hotel

Grooming:

All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)

The expected pay range for this position is $155K - $175K
