Lowell School, a progressive school of approximately 315 students in NW Washington, DC, seeks a Communications and Marketing Manager to begin at the start of the 2024–2025 academic year. This is a twelve-month position. The Communications and Marketing manager reports to the Director of Brand Communications Marketing.

The Communications and Marketing Manager works collaboratively across the school community to identify, create, and manage content that tells the story of the values, programs, and people that make Lowell a one-of-a-kind independent school in the competitive Washington, DC market. The manager supports the school’s operations, community building, recruitment and retention, and fundraising goals and objectives.

Qualifications

B.A. or above in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.Three to five years of experience in communications and/or marketing, ideally in an education or nonprofit setting.

Required Skills/Abilities

Proven creative ability with exemplary writing and storytelling skills and experience targeting and optimizing content for different mediums and audiences.Proven ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.Proven organizational and time- and task-management skills, attention to detail, and an ability to manage deadlines.Significant knowledge of and experience with social media platforms and management tools, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, Hootsuite, and Facebook Business Manager.Significant knowledge and experience with content management tools; Blackbaud and HTML knowledge is a strong plus.Experience with design, photography, and video/multimedia production; Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and iMovie, is a strong plus.Experience with SEO and digital marketing.Experience with digital analytics, including Google Analytics and Hootsuite.Experience with copywriting and editing.Ability to work collaboratively and independently and take on strategy and management roles when needed.

Duties/ Responsibilities

Partner with the Director in creating, executing, and managing the school’s content and digital marketing strategy, including some project-level leadership and management.Consistently identify, produce, and optimize brand-aligned content designed to educate, engage, and influence the school’s target audiences, including current and prospective families, donors, and the regional and national independent school community. This includes written communications, advertising and digital marketing, website and social media content, and photos and videos.Maintain content calendars for marketing and communication efforts.Collect, develop, manage, and communicate to school leadership analytics data for all relevant communications digital media channels and platforms to measure effectiveness, efficiency, and impact. This includes providing regular reports to the Director and other members of the Administrative Team to inform the school's decision-making.Stay up-to-date with the latest communications and marketing digital media trends, technologies, and best practices, and make strategy suggestions when appropriate.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.Long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Expected Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
