Prepare pre-design questionnaires for client representatives to identify goals and needs, develop programmed space spreadsheets, narrative summaries, and graphics for communication. Complete research of local design guidance, ensuring that landscape designs comply with local zoning regulations, building codes, and environmental laws. Carry out case studies and reference research, incorporating successful precedents into the design process.Develop conceptual plans and designs that integrate the client's needs and preferences with environmental, social, and aesthetic considerations. Present design proposals to clients and other stakeholders, explaining design intents, materials, and features, and soliciting feedback to refine the design as needed. Work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to communicate project progress, ensuring that design plans meet project goals, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements. Support firm-wide strategies and collaborate with design teams to ensure a hyper-local design approach, focusing on the implementation of hyper-local design.Use generative AI tools for applicable scenarios, comply with the firm-wide policy to protect the ethos of design and project data. Design concerning project budgets and assist with value engineering. Assist in establishing task schedules and staffing plans consistent with the project agreement. Assist in setting up weekly project issue trackers and identifying project long-term needs. Support the implementation of landscape projects from conception to completion, including coordinating construction activities, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring quality control.Research and comply with all local landscape requirements regarding stormwater management, WUCOLS, and native plant protection. Provide plant selection and arrangement, choosing appropriate plant species based on factors like climate, soil type, and desired aesthetics. Determine proper presentation formats, displaying 3D modeling and renderings, using Adobe Suite products for Photoshop montage, Illustrator diagrams, After Effects animation, and InDesign presentation decks. Prepare visual materials for presentations, workshops, and meetings, using 2D/3D digital modeling programs, including Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, Enscape, and Lumion. Build physical models using digital fabrication software and machines, laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, etc. Create visually appealing and functional landscapes, incorporating sustainable design practices to minimize environmental impact and enhance ecological functions, such as using native plants, implementing water-efficient irrigation systems, and promoting biodiversity.Provide design alternatives requiring site plans, site sections, 3D digital massing, and physical site modeling. Propose site grading design incorporated with drainage strategy. Develop documents for all design phases, including landscape plans, sections, and details in imperial or metric standards for jurisdictional agency corrections using computer-aided design software and graphic design tools. Organize, file, and distribute documents utilizing firm-wide standard file structures. Write and review project landscape specifications. Convey design performance to architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, structural, lighting, graphics, and interior consultants to incorporate building systems into designs for the production of technical drawings and secure regulatory approval.Work in a BIM environment for projects as needed. Analyze input materials like sketches, photographs, and notes to determine the best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues efficiently. Conduct site visits, field observations, and meetings to review the progress of construction. Apply design principles to review all related shop drawings, samples, mock-ups, and cut sheets on materials & equipment. Pick up comments and make corrections as indicated by the director and consultants to in-progress sets of design documents. Process general contractor’s requests for information (RFI’s), submittals, and change order requests. Respond to technical issues or design debates, and develop proper solutions following established standards.RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or foreign equivalent plus 3 years of experience to include participating in pre-design and design phases of landscape projects, including site visit and analysis, case studies, regulation research, design proposal, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction administration; participating in international projects of various scales, including campus masterplan, large scale mixed-use, traffic-oriented development, waterfront and wetland park, retail plaza, streetscape, and community park; conducting site analysis and information gathering, producing assessments of the natural features and conditions of a site, reading topography surveys, soil reports, identifying local climate characteristics, and existing vegetation; preparing pre-design questionnaires for client representatives to identify goals and needs, develop programmed space spreadsheets, narrative summaries, and graphics for communication; completing research of local design guidance, ensuring that landscape designs comply with local zoning regulations, building codes, and environmental laws; carrying out case studies and reference research, incorporating successful precedent into the design process; developing conceptual plans and designs that integrate the client's needs and preferences with environmental, social, and aesthetic considerations; presenting design proposals to clients and other stakeholders, explaining design intents, materials, and features, and soliciting feedback to refine the design as needed; working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to communicate project progress to ensure that design plans meet project goals, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements; designing with respect to project budgets and assisting with value engineering; assisting in establishing task schedules and staffing plans consistent with the project agreement; assisting in setting up weekly project issue trackers and identifying project long-term needs; supporting the implementation of landscape projects from conception to completion, including coordinating construction activities, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring quality control; providing plant selection and arrangement, choosing appropriate plant species based on factors like climate, soil type, and desired aesthetics; determining proper presentation formats, displaying 3D modeling and renderings, using Adobe Suite products for Photoshop montage, Illustrator diagrams, After Effects animation, and InDesign presentation decks; preparing visual materials for presentations, workshops, and meetings, using 2D/3D digital modeling programs, including Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, Enscape, and Lumion; creating visually appealing and functional landscapes; incorporating sustainable design practices to minimize environmental impact and enhance ecological functions, such as using native plants, implementing water-efficient irrigation systems, and promoting biodiversity; providing design alternatives requiring site plans, site sections, 3D digital massing, and physical site modeling; proposing site grading design incorporated with drainage strategy; developing documents for all design phases, including landscape plans, sections, and details in imperial or metric standards for jurisdictional agency corrections using computer-aided design software and graphic design tools; organizing, filing, and distributing documents utilizing firm-wide standard file structures; writing and reviewing project landscape specifications; conveying design performance to architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, structural, lighting, graphics, and interior consultants to incorporate building systems into designs for the production of technical drawings and secure regulatory approval; analyzing input materials like sketches, photographs, and notes to determine the best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues efficiently; applying design principles to review all related shop drawings, samples, mock-ups, and cut sheets on materials & equipment; picking up comments and making corrections as indicated by the director and consultants to in-progress sets of design documents; responding to technical issues or design debates, and developing proper solutions following established standards.Salary Description$77,418 per year
