Join the industry’s fastest growing technology company to shape that future today.JMA has an opportunity for a Senior Hardware Architect specializing in Radio Design to be based out of the Plano, TX office. This role requires a deep understanding of RF engineering, system architecture, and the ability to lead complex design projects from concept to production. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing advanced radio communication systems and a proven track record of delivering high-performance hardware solutions and Design for Manufacturing of High Volume Products.

Responsibilities:

Lead HW System Architecture:

Work with HW team to define the architecture for cutting-edge radio systems, including the design of mechanics, transmitters, receivers, antennas, and supporting hardware optimized for high volume production.Advanced System Design:

Lead the design and simulation of complex RF, analog, and digital circuits, write Filter/Duplexer specifications ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability criteria as well as meet and exceed 3GPP specifications. Guide the mechanical design of advanced thermal solutions and advise on proper PCB technology to meet DFM and high production yield with volumes.Prototyping and Validation:

Support and review the development and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts and performance against specifications.Integration and Optimization:

Work with the team to ensure seamless integration of radio hardware with other system components and optimize designs for performance, cost, power efficiency, and manufacturability.Technical Leadership:

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.Documentation and Compliance:

Create comprehensive documentation for system architecture, including system requirement specifications, algorithms, Filter/Duplex specifications, thermal specifications, test procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.Stakeholder Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, FPGA and software architects, product managers, and external partners, to deliver cohesive and high-quality solutions.Research and Innovation:

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, driving continuous improvement and innovation in radio design.

Qualifications:

Bachelor, Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.Minimum of 8 years of experience in RF and radio hardware design, with a significant portion in a senior or lead role.Proven experience on MultiBand RRH designs that went on volume production.Experience in PCB selection and stack-up with coins (Embedded and/or Pressfit).Proven experience of design around Xilinx RFSoC.Familiarity with DSP over FPGA (CFR, DPD, DDC, DUC, etc.).Proven experience on Compact RRH design in terms of thermal management (proper fins dimensioning, trade-offs, etc.) of both natural convection and forced air cooling.Proven experience in Filter/Duplexer/Multiplexer required specifications to meet 3GPP emissions/blocking protection.Proven experience in DFM (Design For Manufacturing).Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong leadership and project management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to drive projects to completion and meet tight deadlines.Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with advanced thermal design of modern multiband RRH.In-depth understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) as it applies to radio systems.Familiarity with software-defined radio (SDR) and emerging radio technologies.Previous experience in architecting large-scale projects.Proven experience in PCB technology with particular focus on stack-up and coins technology to meet high yield for volume production.

$130,000 - $150,000 a year

The US national annual base salary for this role is $130,000-$150,000. The range includes the base salary that is expected to be paid for this role.
