Founded in 1996 by 100 Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) women, NAPAWF (National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum) is the only organization dedicated to empowering AANHPI women and girls and gender non-conforming folks to impact policy and drive systemic change in the U.S. NAPAWF is building a movement for social, political, and structural change by building a multilingual, multigenerational membership that encompasses the diversity of the AANHPI community.Employing a reproductive justice framework, we use organizing, advocacy, and communications strategies to assert full agency over our lives, our families, and our communities. The organization also stands in solidarity with other women of color facing oppression and marginalization. NAPAWF focuses on three core issues employing an intersectional approach that holistically centers the experiences and stories of AANHPI women and girls:Reproductive Rights and HealthEconomic JusticeImmigration and Racial JusticePOSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Associate supports NAPAWF’s mission and communications strategy through foundational writing, editing, and organizing tasks. This role involves working closely with the Communications Team to gather information, create content, and collaborate across various NAPAWF teams, stakeholders, and partners. The Communications Associate will contribute to multiple aspects of communication, focusing on gaining experience and developing skills in a supportive environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing & Editing

Write, edit, and compile information for diverse audiences across various platforms.Assist in producing clear and compelling written materials, including press releases, speeches, blog posts, op-eds, emails, newsletters, and talking points.Copyedit and proofread content for style, brand consistency, and mission alignment.Help maintain the editorial calendar and support content planning for NAPAWF’s blog in collaboration with the Digital Engagement Strategist.Communications Team Support

Assist the Communications Manager with research on journalists, outlets, and maintaining media lists.Conduct research and compile background information on relevant issues, potential partners, and new communication platforms.Collaborate with the communications team to brainstorm and implement content ideas and strategies.Manage administrative communication tasks, including monitoring the media inbox and tracking communications metrics.Event Support

Support public-facing events by tracking registrations, planning content for posts and partner emails, and managing logistics.Assist with storytelling programs and other event-related tasks.Relationship Building

Serve as a communications liaison with internal teams needing support, and assist with external partnerships and opportunities.Collaborate with communications consultants to generate creative ideas that align with organizational goals.Contribute to projects, campaigns, social media content, email programs, and subscriber growth as needed.Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Communications Team and organizational objectives.QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in writing, editing, or a related field.Proactive self-starter with the ability to initiate projects and conduct research, while also seeking guidance when needed.Experience integrating gender, race, and other intersectional lenses in communications strategies and work.Knowledge of AANHPI communities and issues affecting AAPI women and girls (i.e., reproductive justice, social justice, or other movements) is highly desirable.Knowledge or experience of media landscape and media/public relations.Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and work independently.Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.Graphic design skills are a plus.Bilingual/multilingual skills are a plus.Strong support of and alignment with NAPAWF’s mission and vision.Occasional travel required (up to 10%) and occasional evening/weekend hours, staffing media events and opportunities, external facing events, and supporting other staff as needed.SALARY & BENEFITS

The annual salary for this position is $53,000-$74,000, commensurate with experience. A highly competitive benefits package includes a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance. NAPAWF covers all premiums and ALL out-of-pocket in-network expenses through a Health Reimbursement Account (including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurances) - qualified dependents may also be covered. Coverage for employees and eligible dependents starts on day one.NAPAWF offers full-time employees 16 days of vacation in the first year, sick leave, flexible spending program options and personal/family leave, as well as paid vacation between December 25 and January 1 of each year.WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in an office setting and requires regularly being able to sit or stand and perform computer-based work; occasional lifting and travel may be required.
