Southeast Missouri State University’s Marketing & Communications department seeks a talented Design Manager to contribute stunning and successful designs and creative campaigns. The Design Manager will lead strategy and a design team responsible for creating art across mediums that elevate SEMO’s brand reputation. The Design Manager is a skilled artist who can develop and direct on-brand creative from concept to final files as well as an adept marketer who understands achieving the goals behind the design strategy.

Primary ResponsibilitiesLead the design strategy and creative process to develop sophisticated marketing campaigns and intuitive identity systems that elevate SEMO’s brand reputation and achieve strategic objectives.Lead and supervise a design team to ensure consistency across all visual communications.Create and manage multiple design and marketing plans and marketing budgets simultaneously, meeting deadline-oriented production schedule and maintaining a high standard of quality.Communicate and collaborate with clients to understand and translate their needs to effective and strategic marketing pieces designed for a variety of external and internal audiences, as well as collaborate closely with the marketing team, contributing creative ideas for new campaigns and programs to drive our brand awareness and demand generation initiatives.Communicate with vendors to ensure all deliverables are error-free and on brand.Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve SEMO’s visual communications. Ensure all designs are optimized for various platforms and devices, maintaining visual integrity and usability.Assist in trainings to make it easy for internal and external stakeholders to understand the brand, be inspired by it, and apply it correctly.Serve as a division/college marketing liaison to assist in development and achievement of enrollment marketing and strategic University goals.Enthusiastically collaborate with team members to achieve University goals, create effective campaigns, and elevate the SEMO brand.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, technical graphics, marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, or related field.Experience in brand marketing design or a similar role.Thorough knowledge of branding, graphic design, digital design, environmental design, and visual arts concepts, principles, trends, and practices.Demonstrated ability to use Adobe Creative Suite to successfully design complex print and web projects within brand, and prepare final files.Demonstrated ability to execute and manage a marketing and communications plan.Excellent creativity and artistic skills with a keen eye for detail.Superior time management, organizational, and marketing skills with the ability to prioritize and the discipline to deliver projects.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
