As a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) at UBT, you will be responsible for designing and managing the installation of structured cabling systems and other communications infrastructure. Your role involves creating detailed design plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality, reliable communication solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Planning:
Develop and design comprehensive communication distribution systems, including voice, data, and video networks.Create detailed design drawings and specifications for cabling infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.Assess client requirements and provide recommendations for optimal system design and implementation.
Project Management:
Manage and oversee the installation and implementation of communication systems.Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery.Conduct site surveys and evaluations to determine design requirements and feasibility.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and best practices, including ANSI/TIA/EIA, BICSI, and NEC.Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
Quality Assurance:
Perform system testing and validation to ensure performance meets specified requirements.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to communication systems and infrastructure.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design schematics, installation reports, and system specifications.Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders regarding project status and progress.
Client Interaction:
Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide expert guidance on communication system design and implementation.Address client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
Required Skills
Qualifications:• Education:o Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).• Certification:o Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification from BICSI (required).• Experience:o Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in designing and managing communication distribution systems.o Proven experience with structured cabling systems, networking infrastructure, and telecommunications technology.• Skills:o Strong knowledge of industry standards and best practices for communication systems.o Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio).o Excellent project management and organizational skills.o Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.o Effective communication and interpersonal skills.• Other Requirements:o US Citizeno Possess a Secret or Higher Security Clearanceo Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.o Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
