Woo, the company behind the world’s most popular e-commerce platform, is looking for an experienced creative leader with an art direction background to join our design team.

This role combines creative strategy with creative management. You’ll lead a small team of designers while working on hands-on concepts, creative strategy, and brand-building work.

Responsibilities:

Manage a team of experienced designers, supporting in prioritizing tasks during all project phases, from definition to development, and contributing to design as needed.

Lead concepting and asset creation for a variety of multi-channel campaigns, including brand efforts, inbound content campaigns, feature releases, and more.

Develop concepts for videos and lead regular photo and video shoots to capture customer content, owned photography, B roll, and other assets to grow our library and differentiate our marketing.

Work directly with the Woo’s Head of Design to define how the product, marketing, and brand come together.

Partner with our copy-side creative director and VP of Creative on developing and refining brand strategy.

Partner with marketing leadership to develop campaign strategies that drive demand, conversion, and acquisition of high-value merchants.

Lead the marketing website user experience, using a deep understanding of our target customers and their journeys to develop strategy, design, and content for WooCommerce.com.

Use your design skills to jump into project work as needed, including branding, campaign assets, social, events, and more.

Actively contribute to the greater design org at Automattic, surfacing, connecting, and providing input to work across various design teams.

Requirements:

A background as a creative director, associate creative director, or art director.

Experience managing art directors, designers, video teams, and other creatives, guiding them in their craft and mentoring them in their careers.

Experience at a creative agency, an in-house creative agency, or ideally both.

Deep experience leading the end-to-end creative process for full-funnel marketing campaigns, including concepting, paid and organic assets, and video.

Experience co-owning growth and revenue targets for the work you lead.

A passion for creating awareness and affinity for brands.

Experience creating beautiful, conversion-optimized website journeys that help convert visitors into customers.

Experience leading and prepping for video and photo shoots and directing talent and production crews on set.

Experience owning relationships with external agencies and directing their work.

Comfort working with stakeholders, other creatives, developers, and other partners to produce outstanding work.

Excellent design and art direction skills for brand and marketing and experience with all standard industry tools and processes.

Great writing skills in order to manage, communicate, and provide feedback to a remote team.

As a plus, you have some experience in e-commerce: you’ve worked on e-commerce/DTC accounts, have actually made and sold something yourself, have worked for an e-commerce app or tool, etc.

Salary range: $95,000-$200,000 USD
