Digital Content Specialist

( Library Services Specialist ).Dedicated to fulfilling the ever-evolving needs of our diverse communities, the HSHSL provides exemplary services, resources, expertise, and space to cultivate transformational learning, research, and community engagement. The selected candidate will support the vision and mission of the department.The Digital Content Specialist is a member of the HSHSL Resource Development and Access Division. This position participates in identifying and submitting content to the UMB Digital Archive, a service of the library that collects, preserves, and distributes the academic works and history of UMB. The Specialist must be a highly productive and detail-oriented worker with the ability to use initiative and make appropriate judgments. This position reports to the Head of Resource Development.Primary Duties:Provides guidance and instruction to library support staff.Identifies, documents, and submits select UMB Digital Archive content in accordance with established procedures.Identifies, documents, and communicates with UMB contacts of respective content sources.Assists with developing and documenting workflows.Digitizes materials as needed.Ensures accessibility of digital resources by following established policies and procedures.Works with the Head of Resource Development in outreach and promotion activities for the UMB Digital Archive.Leads and participates in the planning and implementation of special projects, new services or process improvements.Monitors for copyright infringement and other laws, policies and practices governing access, use, and sharing of information resources.Applies basic principles and practices regarding preservation of library information resources in various formats.Performs quality control and assists with planning, preparing, creating and maintaining local library information resources.Identifies and resolves problems related to access and use of library information resources and services.Collects, reports and assists with analyzing data on collections, usage, service transactions, and customer needs.Minimum Qualifications:Experience:

One year of experience directly related to the primary duties of the position.Preferred Experience:

One year of experience working in a library preferred. Experience with digital repository platforms such as DSpace preferred.Other:

Additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the mission and role of college or university library and its primary customers.Ability to apply and enforce U.S. Copyright laws and current trends related to access and use of information resources.Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.UMB is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
