The Senior Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy that enhances our institutions brand, engages our community, and supports our recruitment, retention, fundraising, and outreach goals. Qualifications Minimum Required Education Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Minimum Required Experience Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in social media management, preferably in a higher education setting. Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications None. Qualifications See knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Deep understanding of major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, TikTok, etc.), including their algorithms, best practices, and trends. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of social media analytics and the ability to interpret data to improve performance and inform leadership. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and Adobe Creative Suite applications. Proven ability to create engaging content for various social media platforms. Job Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic social media plans aligned with JSU's goals and objectives. Manage and oversee a council of community managers across the university, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voice for institutional social media accounts. Create, curate, and manage high-quality, engaging content across various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, YouTube). Monitor social media trends, tools, and applications, and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase impressions and engagement on social media platforms. Analyze and report on social media performance, providing insights and recommendations for Improvement. Collaborate with internal departments, including Enrollment Management, Institutional Advancement, and Athletics to support their social media needs and goals. Train and mentor junior team members and student workers on social media best practices. Lead the social media efforts in crisis communications in collaboration with the Social Media Associate and other crisis management team members. Engage with the online community, responding to comments, questions, and feedback in a timely and professional manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
