Job Description

Within a highly collaborative environment, the Social Medial Coordinator will create, plan and execute a multichannel social media content strategy that enhances the University's brand and reputation, drive engagement with alumni and supporters, and improve perceptions among prospective students and parents. The Social Media Coordinator will report to the Chief Communications Officer within Strategic Communications.

Job Duties:

Develop long-term and short-term strategic plans and goals for institutional social media in support hf the University brand, reputation management and mission.

Day-to-day management of institutional social media accounts, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube.

Create and manage social media posting calendar based on short-term and long-term strategies.

Build and maintain campus relationships, advise and perform social media training for faculty and staff members responsible for ancillary university social media channels.

Monitor analytics to measure impact of social media programs; analyze, review and report on effectiveness of efforts in order to maximize results. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) dashboards and regularly report on insights shared on social media monitoring.

Responsible for staying informed about trends, emerging tools and best practices in social media and advising marketing and communications team.

Additional responsibilities include contributing written copy, graphics, photography, video, and other digital content in support of strategic communications efforts.

Interview students, faculty, staff and alumni for content creation.

Report on campus events for coverage on social media accounts, the university website and the university magazine.

Organize, schedule and facilitate social media takeovers of the university's social media accounts.

Share crisis communication updates and engage in social listening on social media platforms as directed by the Chief Communications Officer.

Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and at least on year of marketing/communications experience in a professional setting managing social media engagement.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media channels and their audiences, and the ability to develop targeting messages on each channel to engage those audiences.

Excellent oral communication, written communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to meet tight deadlines and respond appropriately to time-sensitive issues, particularly in instances when emergency communication is necessary.

Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Strong proofreading skills and attention to accuracy and detail.

Experience in digital design including motion graphics.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in higher education or working in a complex organization.

Knowledge of AP Style.
