Description

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national, nonprofit public charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for the more than 140,000 children waiting in North America's foster care systems. Created by Wendy's® founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and innovative grantmaking.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

With support from the director of brand and cause awareness, the manager, digital communications will work collaboratively with internal and external audiences to elevate public awareness of the Foundation's brand, mission and the cause of foster care adoption. As a strong writer with strategic insight, analytical skills and a keen attention to detail, the manager, digital communications will recommend and implement innovative strategies to increase brand awareness and reach various audiences through digital channels, all while maintaining the integrity of the Foundation's brand voice.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Write and/or inform content for engagement emails and blogs that educate about the urgent need for foster care adoption and the Foundation's role in addressing it, including signature programs, news, stories of impact, free educational resources and ways to get involved

2. Support the director of brand and cause awareness in creating brand journalism assets to be shared across channels and help maintain the Foundation's content calendar

3. Coordinate regular/annual copy and resource updates for the Foundation's U.S. and Canada websites in alignment with brand standards and SEO best practices; request and analyze site analytics from web development/hosting partner to inform quarterly reporting and future enhancements

4. Develop comprehensive social media strategies and tactics, ensuring consistency in key messages and brand voice

Provide direction to the digital communications coordinator's posting of social content and visuals that raise public awareness, engage and steward donors and promote event participation; provide support with responding to inquiries via social channels and info. email, as needed; manage boosting of high-performing contentPartner with external agency to recommend, implement and manage influencer campaigns that increase engagement in our channels and attract new audiences. Provide guidance and talking points for influencers and partners' use on social media5. Write and/or inform content that promotes the Foundation's Adoption-Friendly Workplace program, through emails, ads, web, blogs/company stories, social posts and resources. Support communications related to implementation of annual survey of employers and list;

6. Utilize project management tools to organize and track analytics, provide insights to internal teams and inform future campaigns based on data and feedback

7. Leverage social media software and tools, such as Sprout Social and Google Analytics (GA4), to track and assess social engagement metrics to support quarterly marketing reports and scorecards with key performance summaries

8. Write, edit and proofread content in alignment with the Foundation's brand standards and AP style

9. Assume responsibility for professional growth and development, keeping current with industry trends and best practices

10. Serve as direct supervisor of the coordinator, digital communications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Experience and knowledge of best practices in digital communications, including advertising, influencer marketing and content optimization, to advance an organization's mission and goals.Experience managing social media communities and/or contributing content, utilizing various channels and management tools strategically and translating analytics into action-oriented information; experience using Adobe Premiere Pro or iMovie and Canva to create visuals, a plusExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills with experience in receiving and integrating rigorous feedback to refine and enhance content; knowledge and use of AP styleAbility to work in a collaborative environment and manage multiple projects; proficient use of project management systems that aid internal communications and planning; knowledge of Asana preferredKnowledge and experience developing content in alignment with best practices for search engine optimization; strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform social media strategyValues diversity and supports an inclusive culture through the ability to successfully communicate with and influence a diverse group of audiencesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field5+ years of experience in digital communications and social media managementExperience in a consulting agency and/or national nonprofit organization is a plusWORK ENVIRONMENT
