POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Data Visualization Developer with a strong focus on front-end development and a passion for storytelling through data. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on transforming complex data into visually stunning, engaging, and insightful visualizations. You will be responsible for the entire design and development process, from identifying and analyzing data to building polished, publication-quality front-end solutions. This position demands a creative individual with an eye for design, capable of crafting clean, clear, concise, and impactful visual narratives with minimal direction.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Front-End Development : Develop engaging, user-friendly front-end applications for data visualization using React.js and various libraries such as D3.js, Recharts, Victory, and Nivo. You will be responsible for bringing data to life through visually compelling interfaces that captivate and inform.Data Storytelling : Identify, clean, and analyze datasets to create compelling data stories. You will be expected to use best design practices to ensure that the visualizations are not only beautiful but also clear, concise, and capable of driving impactful decisions.Design Process Management : Independently manage the entire design process, from initial concept to final execution. This includes designing functional prototypes and wireframes in tools like Figma and translating them into interactive, data-rich storytelling platforms that meet publication standards.Collaboration and Impact : Collaborate across our nonprofit organizations to visualize the intersection of aging and healthcare. Your work will be crucial in driving the adoption of best practices and models of care, using data visualizations to enhance understanding and decision-making.Technical Integration : Utilize SQL, Snowflake, and Python for data manipulation and integration with frontend displays. Your ability to seamlessly connect front-end designs with backend data systems will be key to delivering a cohesive and responsive user experience.Design Quality : Ensure all visualizations embody our mission, reflecting the highest standards of design quality and contributing to the organization’s goals in healthcare advocacy and education.QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Data Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in front-end development and data visualization, with a strong emphasis on design and storytelling.Proficiency in React.js and libraries like D3.js, Recharts, Victory, or Nivo.Demonstrated experience with SQL, Snowflake, Python, and data analytics.A strong portfolio showcasing previous work in data visualization and front-end design, particularly examples of engaging, impactful visual narratives.Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate the story behind the data and the design choices made.Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.Must believe in public health and science.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThe estimated compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000We gladly offer:
