Job Summary

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will deliver marketing and public relations plans while executing various communication functions for the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories and various research projects that are conducted by the Labs. This includes research centers activities and sponsored projects. This individual will be the lead in planning and coordinating small- and large-scale events including the Industrial Advisory Committee Annual Meeting, every other year "Herrick Homecoming" events, creating content about the research at Herrick, design pieces for promotion of Herrick including the Annual Report, maintaining CRM databases, and updating and monitoring social media and web content. This position may conduct assessments and metric analyses. A successful candidate will need to collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories and its underlying centers and projects branding is up to date with current university marketing and media guidelines. This position will have a high level of autonomy in collaborating with vendors to complete projects.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

Required:Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphics, communications, or related fieldA minimum of 2-3 years of experience in event planning, marketing, communications, public relations, or related

Experience may include creating original content for fliers, newsletters, announcements, and annual reports

Experience collaborating with catering companies, event planning services, and VIP guestsEquivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

For example, an Associate's degree and 4-5 years of experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 6-7 years of experience

Preferred:

2+ years of experience with presentation material such as WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft OfficeSkills:

Required:
