Strategy and Design Intern

Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a

Strategy and Design Intern

for a Fall 2024 internship in a democracy and governance firm. This role is expected to work 20-35 hours/week regularly. This is a paid internship ($18/hour). This role is scheduled to be a hybrid remote/in-person internship at DI's offices in Bethesda, MD.

We will only consider applicants who are based in the DC area and willing to work a hybrid in-office/remote schedule.

Essential Job Duties:

The intern will provide programmatic and administrative support to DI HQ by performing the following duties:Research about politics, governance, elections, social challenges in foreign countries;Research cost information in different countries;Conduct research on different opportunities and write reports about them;Contribute writing to technical proposals and edit proposals;Assist with office administration;Communicate with overseas consultants and staff members; andAttend lectures and other events, take notes, and share/present with DI staff;Maintain files on DI shared drive and SharePoint.Required Skills and Qualifications:

Coursework/demonstrated interest in international affairs, area studies, comparative politics or international development;Work experience in an administrative support position and research support preferred;Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple demands, prioritize and produce high quality work under pressure;Commitment to accuracy in all tasks and attention to detail and follow up is essential;Ability to take initiative, function independently and exercise good judgment;Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications;Fluency in English and excellent writing and communications skills; andAuthorized to work in the U.S.Environmental Conditions:
