Description:

The Civic Learning Marketing and Graphic Design Intern works with the Director of Civic Learning to help promote and coordinate all the functions of the Civic Learning Office, and to serve as a liaison between students, faculty, various community agencies, and the Civic Learning program at DU.

Responsibilities:

Community-based Learning Office Tasks:

- Promote events via email, DU Impact, EngageDU, social media, and other digital and print platforms

- Create fliers, banners, handouts and other promotional materials for Civic Learning events and programs

- Collaborate with the Civic Learning Director on marketing campaigns and strategy

- Support the Civic Learning Director in maintaining a comprehensive list of events and deadlines

- Assist in the administrative tasks of the Civic Learning Office, including attending weekly staff meetings, answering email, record keeping, filing, etc.

- Assist in coordinating the Civic Learning EXPO and sign-up week (September/ January)

- Follow-up with student time logs, student evaluations and agency evaluations.

- Maintain data from Community-based Learning forms and list of student volunteers for each agency.

- Coordinate the annual Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive with St. Joseph Services (November)

Serve as Promotions Liaison with Community Partners:

- Update agency information on an ongoing basis through learning about the agency's mission and work, visiting websites and inputting data collected during agency visits

- Confirm the list of all student volunteers, times, email/ phone information with the agency supervisor.

- Report any difficulties or problems to the Civic Learning Director.

Communicate with Community-based Learning Students:

- Work with students finding appropriate placements and getting them information about Community-based learning and the various agencies who are our community partners.

- Contact students reminding them of their Orientation or 1st visit to their placement.

- Maintain communication with CBL students, informing them of "getting started" with their CBL placement, mid-term reminders and end-of-term forms and deadlines.

- Email CBL faculty with updates of which students have turned in contracts for their agency

Requirements:

- About 10 hours per week, either on site or in office. Some weeks will demand more time; some less.

- Responsible; personable; ability to follow through; good communication skills; flexibility; good people skills; passion for service and social justice.

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Graphic Design major or minor preferred, but candidates with strong experience with using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite and Canva are encouraged to apply

- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

- Interest in and enthusiasm for working with community service organizations, political advocacy groups, and social movements

Compensation:

- This is a paid position-work study or stipend.
