Position Overview:

We seek a motivated IT Technical Writer Intern to join our Information Technology team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating, editing, and managing technical documentation related to our IT systems, processes, and cybersecurity policies. The ideal candidate is someone who has a keen interest in technology, cybersecurity, and a passion for clear and concise communications. You will gain valuable experience in technical writing, IT, and cybersecurity documentation, receive guidance and mentorship from experienced IT and cybersecurity professionals and enjoy flexible working hours to accommodate academic commitments.

Key Responsibilities:Documentation Development: Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation, including user manuals, system guides, process documentation, and FAQsCybersecurity Policy Writing: Write, review, and update cybersecurity policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.Content Editing: Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.Collaboration: Work closely with IT professionals, developers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of documentation.Research: Conduct research to gather necessary technical information and stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in IT and cybersecurity documentation.Content Management: Help organize and maintain documentation libraries and repositories ensuring easy access and retrieval of documents.User Support: Assist in developing instructional materials and training guides for end-users.Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance reviews of documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and guidelines.

Requirements

Qualifications:Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Technical Writing, English Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.Basic understanding of IT and cybersecurity concepts and terminology. Ability to quickly learn and grasp new technical information.Familiarity with documentation tools such as Microsoft Word.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in technical writing, documentation, or internships in related fields in a plus.Basic knowledge of programming languages, software development, IT infrastructure, or cybersecurity is beneficial but not required.
