The Senior Technical Writer performs a variety of tasks including developing and owning the technical writing processes, defining standards and best practices, controlling the documentation management system and associated process, and all associated output. The Senior Technical Writer produces high-quality technical documentation, manuals, technical designs, system builds, user guides, and service and repair manuals. The Senior Technical Writer works with engineers and other internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers to develop documents and manuals that accurately explain complex information in a clear and concise manner. The Senior Technical Writer is passionate and flexible, with excellent time management skills, and adept communicator with strong writing skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to gather and interpret technical information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

Implement, manage, and maintain the technical writing discipline.Develop, own, and standardize the technical writing function including tools for content creation, structure, design, standards, and style.Develop and maintain technical documentation for ECS products and services, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, troubleshooting guides, digital work instructions, product briefs, white papers, etc.Collaborate with engineering, product management, customers, vendors, and other subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.Create comprehensive and easy to understand documentation from complex technical information.Create and implement a document management system and all associated requirements.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create, review, and revise all documentation.Develop a language translation outsourcing process including planning, organizing, and validating.Plan and complete assigned tasks on-time and communicate status proactively.Manage documentation development schedule, reviews, and approval process.Observe experimental or production activities to determine procedures and details.Continuously improve documentation processes and tools to enhance efficiency and quality.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technical writers as needed.Demonstrate commitment to core values by leading, acting and behaving in a manner consistent with the company core values; Customer Success, Embrace Innovation, Collaboration, Owners Impacting Growth, and Do the Right Thing.

Essential Education, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certifications or similar, such as Society for Technical Communication is a plus.Minimum of 6 years in technical writing and managing complex technical documents in the tech industry with a strong portfolio of work.Extensive experience working with technology teams, process documentation, procedures, user guides, and diagrams for systems.Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and ability to simplify complex technical concepts.Proficiency in authoring tools such as Adobe InDesign, MadCap Flare, or similar documentation tools.Experience creating and managing documentation in HTML, XML, or Markdown formats.Knowledge and familiarity with graphic design principles and tools for creating illustrations and diagrams.Experience with content management systems such as SharePoint and Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Jira or Propel.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational and project management skills including multi-tasking, planning, and prioritizing.A self-starter able to work independently with the ability to set and achieve goals.Working knowledge of computer hardware and software. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts.Detail oriented with a focus on creating clear and understandable output and the ability to produce high-quality documentation.Ability to communicate with professionals from technical fields and non-experts and the ability to translate that information into easily understood written word.Ability to work successfully across different teams and collaborate with technical people from various backgrounds.Experience implementing and managing a document management system.Ability to own and manage the technical writing process and define the standards to be followed by the organization.Must be able to read, write, and speak professionally.
