Portland Public Schools: Part time Art Teacher, PACE

Portland Public Schools' seeks an innovative and passionate education professional to join our teaching team to enhance the education experience for our students at Portland Adult, Alternative and Virtual Education (PACE). This position will begin with the 24/25 school year.

The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skillsUnderstanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiativesAbility to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanorImpeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staffAbility to integrate technology into teaching and learning practicesExperience in working with special needs studentsWillingness to undertake extra-curricular assignments

Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:A Bachelor's degree or higherValid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Art endorsement, LX, LQ, or LZStrong base in the subject area content, common core standardsAbility to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instructionAbility to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleaguesDemonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomesWillingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement
