Job Title: Instructional Designer

Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging, effective, and scalable learning experiences. This role involves designing and developing instructional materials, courses, and programs that align with the organization's educational goals. The Instructional Designer works closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to ensure that the content is accurate, current, and effectively meets the needs of learners.

Key Responsibilities:

Course Design and Development:

Design, develop, and implement instructional materials and learning experiences for various delivery methods, including e-learning, instructor-led training, blended learning, and self-paced courses.

Create storyboards, scripts, and prototypes to visualize and structure course content.

Needs Analysis:

Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify learning objectives and performance outcomes.

Collaborate with stakeholders to determine training requirements and course objectives.

Content Creation:

Develop engaging and interactive learning activities, assessments, and multimedia content (videos, simulations, quizzes, etc.).

Ensure content is aligned with learning objectives and instructional design principles.

Collaboration with SMEs:

Work closely with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure the accuracy and relevance of course content.

Facilitate review and feedback sessions to refine instructional materials.

Learning Management System (LMS) Management:

Upload and manage courses within the organization's LMS.

Track learner progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through data analysis and reporting.

Evaluation and Improvement:

Assess the effectiveness of instructional programs through surveys, feedback, and performance data.

Implement revisions and updates to instructional materials based on evaluation results and feedback.

Project Management:

Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality training materials.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and success.

Stay Current with Trends:

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in instructional design, e-learning, and adult learning theories.

Incorporate new techniques and technologies to enhance learning experiences.

Required Skills:

Instructional Design Expertise:

Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Bloom's Taxonomy).

Proficiency in creating instructional materials for various learning modalities.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).

Familiarity with LMS platforms and basic HTML/CSS for e-learning content.

Communication and Collaboration:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with SMEs, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Project Management:

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Analytical Skills:

Ability to conduct needs assessments and analyze learning outcomes.

Proficiency in evaluating and improving instructional effectiveness.

Creativity and Innovation:

Ability to develop engaging and interactive learning experiences.

Willingness to experiment with new instructional techniques and technologies.

Qualifications:

Education:

A bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field is typically required.

A master's degree is preferred.

Experience:

Several years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a related role.

Experience in developing e-learning content and using instructional design software.

Certifications:

Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance - CPLP, eLearning Guild certifications) are advantageous.

$75,000 - $85,000 a year
