MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or related fieldAdvanced knowledge in applying common instructional design principles and best practicesExperience designing course materials and operating learning management systems (LMS)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:At least two years of relevant professional experience/instructional design experienceProficiency with Microsoft 365Experience as an administrator of a LMS, such as Brightspace/Desire2LearnUnderstanding of website design best practicesProficiency in graphic design software (Adobe, Canva, etc.)Excellent project management and organizational skillsEffective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleaguesExperience teaching others and developing learning materials concerning the use of hardware and software applicationsKnowledge of educational assessment and evaluation methodsExperience with conducting course reviews via an industry recognized rubric, and communicating results and recommendationsExcellent customer service skills and ability to work collaborativelyAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionHighly attentive to detail and accuracyExcellent critical thinking skills

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for working with Subject Matter Experts (instructors and others) to assist with the development and review of high-quality courses for Academic and Workforce Development in the Learning Management System, Desire2Learn. This may include assisting in the development and delivery of self-paced learning modules, standard content, videos, webinars, and documentation. The Instructional Designer will function as a part of the Academics and Workforce Development teams and work collaboratively across other departments to help effectively deliver distance-learning, synchronous, asynchronous, or correspondence course curricula. Their expertise will be used to identify opportunities to leverage technology to enhance the learning process and design courses and programs that are effective and accessible. They will also provide instructional support for all instructors at the institution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Collaborate with Academic and Workforce department leadership in the development or conversion of courses for online, hybrid, or other learning modalities while meeting the objectives of the course and being consistent with the mission of NPRCCollaborate with instructor Subject Matter Experts (SME)s to identify, design, and develop course materials and assets while managing course development projects.Actively review existing courses and offer recommendations for continuous improvement based on best practices in online and distance learning.Aid faculty in preparing proposed and existing courses for design review based on industry standards and the NPRC-approved rubricProvide timely formative feedback and assistance to faculty to enhance face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.Recommend innovative design, format, and/or technological changes to further engage learners.Train new instructors in the use of NPRC systems and provide continuous support for systems and instructional technologyEffectively lead instructional workshops and presentations on innovative strategies to enhance teaching and learningAssist in the development, organization, and delivery of online lesson materials using faculty content, other instructional content, software applications, and the LMS as directed.Apply instructional design methods to assist in the delivery of community areas within the LMS, including but not limited to student resources, student orientation, career services, instructor resources, and NPRC staff content and trainingWork collaboratively with Information Technology staff for term related preparation, logistics, documentation, and the effective delivery of student surveysCollaborate with SMEs on developing engaging content (e.g., video, audio, and/or interactive)Manage project timelines for instructional design projectsMaintain knowledge of instructional technologies, instructional design, and curricular best practicesAssist with accessibility needs in keeping with the Americans with Disabilities ActSupport and stay informed about Universal Design for LearningEnsure assessment environment supports academic integritySupport the routine and daily operation, use, and configuration of the LMS

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:Remote work assignment may be approved for this position with expectations for periodic in-person attendance at specified College events, such as Commencement, governance, and faculty trainingOffice Location: To be determined. Office assignment and instructional location depend upon location availability and institutional needsWork hours:

Employees are expected to work 37.5 hours weekly.Work hours may be adjusted and may include evenings and occasional Saturdays if necessary to support instructors
