We are seeking a highly experienced Landscape Lighting Designer with a minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in luxury residential projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of landscape design principles, electrical systems, and architectural aesthetics to create stunning outdoor lighting solutions which enhance the beauty and functionality of high-end residential properties.

Lighting Design is a strategic initiative within Visual Comfort & Co - Direct allowing us to engage our residential clients in a more meaningful way. As a Landscape Lighting Designer, this key role will assist clients, the Business Development team, and other sales team members in developing creative layouts and specifications for residential landscape lighting projects to drive sales of Visual Comfort & Co brand products.

Responsibilities:Consultation & Client CollaborationMeet with clients and internal teams to understand their requirements, preferences, and budget for landscape lightingProvide expert guidance and recommendations on lighting design concepts, fixtures, and technologies that align with the luxury residential aestheticAbility to hold and direct client meetings with poise and confidence

Site AnalysisConduct a thorough assessment of the property, considering existing landscape features, architectural elements, and natural surroundingsEvaluate the quality of ambient light and its impact on the landscapeLighting DesignDevelop innovative and customized lighting plans which accentuate key architectural and landscaping features while ensuring a harmonious balanceIncorporate various lighting techniques to create the desired ambiance and visual texture

Fixture SelectionSpecify appropriate Visual Comfort & Co brand fixtures that meet lighting requirements, budget, and overall project aesthetic

Technical ExpertiseStay current with the latest advancements in lighting technology, energy-efficient solutions, and control systems to provide cutting-edge options for clients

Project ManagementWork closely with installation team to ensure design integrity and quality are maintainedMaintain project timelines and schedules to meet client expectations

DocumentationPrepare comprehensive project documents, including lighting plans, fixture schedules, and specification packagesExecute deliverables within Visual Comfort & Co - Direct standards, ensuring consistency and quality of work both in design and deliverables

CollaborationBe an available resource to Visual Comfort & Co - Direct seeking product knowledge and technical expertise

Communication

Clearly communicate with all parties, intent, direction and expectations

Meet/exceed architectural lighting sales goals through lighting design effortsTravel for project design meetings and site visits in the showroom trade area markets

Qualifications:Bachelors degree in landscape design, lighting design, architecture, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in landscape lighting design, specifically in luxury residential projectsProficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Acrobat and Excel. Experience with Dialux or AGI32 not required, but helpful)Knowledge of electrical systems, lighting technologies, and control systemsStrong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and colleaguesAttention to detail and a keen eye for aestheticsStrong grasp of residential lighting trendsKnowledge of residential construction processes and a deft understanding of construction documentsCritical thinking, superior organization, planning skills, time management and prioritization with the ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure in a dynamic, multi-location team environmentExcellent communication skills, possess the ability to clearly articulate design and technical information to clients and internal teamsExperience professionally presenting solutions to customersAbility to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and possess the ability to remain calm under pressureKnowledge of building codes and regulations related to landscape lightingStrong project management skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamSales experience not required, but an advantageA portfolio showcasing past luxury residential lighting design projects is highly desirable
